I just got a breast reduction 3 day ago.
My breasts were too big and gave me back pain.
Now theyre smaller and lighter. No I need to lose about 35 lbs.
I want to go back on my diet. Will caloric restriction slow down wound/scar healing ?
No one seems to have the answer. Help.

There is a forum specifically for healing and has a healing diet for you if you want to take a look on a site I use often for my breast reduction. There is also a forum to ask this question.

Here is the healing info/diet forum: http://www.breasthealthonline.org/cgi-bin/mwf/board_show.pl?bid=140

There is also a main reduction support forum you can ask your question:

I did not go on a diet until after my surgery, when I was finally lighter and could work out easier.

You could also ask your PS about it.

Honestly, after I had my breast reduction and I could actually move the weight came off itself. I don't think dieting would do anything to make the scars heal any different. I would just make sure you had on a sport bra to support them and not interfere with the healing process. I also used Vitamin E oil, which the dermatologist I went to recommended it. I feel you though, scars are hard to live with that is why I went to see the derm. after my plastic surgeon told me there wasn't any more he could do to minmize the scarring. I am happy with the results either way. You probably feel like a new person. Congrats!

The only thing I do know 4 sure is u need to eat a little bit more protein than u normally would. Why? Protein accelerates the healing process of skin damage / wounds. Don't go on a Crash Diet either that's a big no no.

NO, you can eat 3,000 a day and be malnourished and get sick as a dog.
Calories are not the factor.. it is the foods that you eat
I suggest you load up on fruits veggies and things that are enriched with oxidants.
If your body is nourished it will heal. Also consider finding foods good for your blood.. rich in iron . This should aid healing as well
