Ever listen to the band U2?

One of their songs has a lyric that goes something like this:

"Your packing a suitcase for a place, none of us has been.
A place that has to be believed, to be seen."

You can't grasp God with your mind ... it's absolutely impossible. You can't understand belief, until you believe.
It's not a mind/intellect thing, it's a heart thing.

I'm sorry, I know that isn't what you want, but that is the reality of the thing.

The thing that I think of in my mind that makes me believe in God is this.

The never ending universe that we look up at every now and then makes me realize how small we are while some things are so much farther away but yet Millions of times bigger.
Everything is so much more Beyond our comprehension then we could ever fathom.
Even if we did comprehend it ,our minds would crash like a computers because the whole universe holds more mysteries then all human minds could ever think of put together.
This is why I compare God to all of what I just said.
In my mind he is more then just the classic image that most people portray him to be as a being with a beard and mustache.
He is much huger then that.
To me he is the time around us,the atoms, and the universe.
This is why he could come in any form he wants to ,even if it was in your dreams. He created all.

I find that I have gripped myself with reality more then the non believers.Because there is more out there then what anyone could ever fathom.

That's why I believe.

You could go down the route that God told the Isrealites to do time and time again - recall what he has done for you in the past

Or just think through the character of God again - so often we forget who God really is... Take Isaiah 40 for instance - it was written to a people who needed faith that God hadn't forgotten them, but in reality it was they who had forgotten GOd and there's a great passage of how God reminds them of what he is like... I think you'd like this.

Or I find walking in nature and asking God to remind me of what he is like can be powerful.

Hope this is helpful
Also understanding that God can cope with our doubts and anger etc is important - a lot of people find something like the Alpha Course (look it up online) helpful in this area

To believe on him is to think of him and to red his word, to see the glory of his creation and to know that you live under his grace. His Son came down in the form of MAN and went back with all men unto him. Think of everything that you own, the food you eat, the breath you take. All things ALL THINGS should remind you of him. More than anything the rising sun, and the morning you are able to greet.

Here, here. ...and, please tell: How do you release yourself from the grips of reality in order to do it? It is as if we non-believers are being asked to understand that one could simply look at a blue sky and believe (by some clear and real magic vision) that the sky is altogether some other color completely, perhaps that it's even polka-dotted and tied in ribbons. What's up with you all?

the only thing that you have to do is believe that Jesus died for your sins and repent of them and ask Jesus into your heart.
