My nephew just completed the 3 year max that you can serve as a Thunderbird. He has recently been transfered to Langley Air Force base to be a crew chief on the new F22 fighter.

Thunderbirds aren't given a ribbon, pin, arm patch, etc. to indicate that they have served in this elite group. It's not right!!

The Air Force is very selective about picking the candidates for this assignment. I know for a fact that my nephew is very proud to have served as we family members are proud of him.

It sounds like most of you don't really know about the T-Birds. They are not a fighting unit but are showmen of their flying skills. Their hame is in Vegas and all of their air shows are done state side with main focus to help Air Force recuiting. Those are some real goofy answers folks.

Not quite sure - The recognition is within the organization.

As to nemesis...Yeah, the US has less friendly fire than most any other organization, ever. And of course, we simply annihilate every other military on Earth whenever we come in contact with them.

Let's see...third largest military on Earth, most combat experience of any military on Earth and we exterminated them in 100 hours.

Get a clue Nemesis.

Back to the real question...Congrats to your nephew! The Raptors are AWESOME and being chosen to work on 'em is an honor.

EDIT: I'm quite familiar with the Thunderbirds. I've watched their shows several times and my Uncle was a short colonel in the USAF - I'm a US Army Reservist and a student pilot. My point was that the Thunderbirds I've met don't care about ribbons or pins - they care about being the absolute best. And they are. And everyone who matters in the flying world knows it. (Although I have a soft spot for the Blue Angels. :-D ) The honor and recognition is within the military aviation community in particular. If you tell someone you were with the Thunderbirds, they know you're top-shelf.

But I surely do understand why it would seem odd - The Military gives special insignia for many things (Old Guard, etc.), one would think that having been a Thunderbird would get something. Perhaps this lack of special recognition beyond excellence is something that makes it all that much more special...

Please bounce off the bandwagon till he a minimum of receives his team to the playoffs. observe how I pronounced get to the playoffs and not win a playoff game? Playoff video games are gained by means of communities no longer gamers. Schaub is precise ten at suitable! Brees, Brady, Rivers, Roethlisberger, McNabb, Manning, Favre, Cutler, Rodgers, Matt Ryan are ten qb's in my view that are extra effective than him. Sorry

Why should it matter that he doesn't have anything to show for it? The only people that matter that know what he has done is you and the family. I'm more than sure that there are pictures that show his accomplishment and success.

He is only elite in the US forces. In comparison to the elite in other countries he is probably very ordinary.

The US military doesn't have a great reputation outside the US, except for producing 'friendly fire'and killing it's own or it's allies.
