so im going to give a friend i know a stupid gift for Valentines day like a cut up paper the shape of a heart and write "Happy Valentines Day! then put her name on it" but if she starts joking around like she says this sucks. then i'll tell her fine i'll get you some chocolates or something if she says ok then i got the opening for getting her chocolates without giving her something for Valentines day and feel awkward.

what if she says? What...you don't have the guts to get me something real for valentines day the first time...I know you like me, it's written all over your face, the way you talk to me, the way you smile and laugh more when I am around and all you can do is give me a piece of paper?
Get her the damn chocolates man!
Most likely, if she likes you in return, she will say oh thank you, the heart is so sweet and in the back of her head "He doesn't like me, he's cheap, or I thought I liked him, but I don't now."
So if she really likes you, she won't give you the window for getting the chocolates.
Glad you came on here to let me tell you your genius plan will backfire in your face, damn.
Get her a rose while you are at it. No need for a dozen, just one if your budget is tight.
Write something sweet as well. You are young, go for it, you'll look back one day and kick yourself when you wonder why she invites you to her wedding as a friend. Is that what you want? Or do you want to see if dating her is good for you?
