I don't have a problem at all with Mormons.

Mormons have a problem with me. Something about hating witches.

Because I speak more languages than English, and I am a Christian who lives like a Christian in action and word, I am often asked if I am a Mormon elder. Some of the nicer people I know are Latter-day Saints...the others were raised LDS...but no longer are. My grandfather was RLDS...I did not really understand much about it until I read the compiled books that accompany the BoM, and the BoM. The methodology is commendable, but the doctrine is so different from the Holy Bible. I read where Joseph Smith claimed that one could know enough about God (my paraphrase) with the BoM and wouldn't need the Holy Bible...this was in response to his exposure to the bickering Protestant denominations at an early age. I studied for myself and learned others noticed too the following verses from Galatians 1:6-10 6 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: 7Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. 8But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. 9As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. 10For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.
Joseph Smith was not a fan of the Bible...or he would have read this and wouldn't have described the way he discovered the plates and the urim and thummim which had been lost from ancient Israel since some time after King David's time. To please men, or himself alone he wanted to start his own movement and believed he was inspired by God. The LDS believe they are the original church--the Priesthood of Levi/Aaron and the Priesthood of Melchizedek combined. The Bible can not be followed accuratly if one wishes to follow the Joseph Smith church...in the New Testament of the Bible, the book of Hebrews explains how the one High Priest after the order of Melchizedek was Christ Jesus, and superceded and replaced the prior order of the Levites. If one understands what the Bible says, how can one believe what the BoM says? They contradict each other, they don't support each other. The Bible was written by several authors over a period of centuries. Mr. Smith wrote the BoM through a number of years. I am aware of a 'conspiracy' about a novel that was the root storyline...but I won't go there. Lastly, for purposes of cutting this short, if these books were such ancient texts, which were translated during the 19th century, why did the author use the style of 16th century England (like the KJV Bible)...the books were "translated" in the United States? I saw LDS elders or priests use the Bible to prop the other books up so they could read them...their Bibles pages were crisp and new....if the BoM is another testimony of Christ's, why is it only LDS literature that supports that information? Why is it when I politely told the man who was trying to convert me that I couldn't understand how the BoM was better than the Bible, he started screaming at me and slapping me? Why is it when I would read from the Holy Bible, or give a Bible based Christian study to a group of men, the Mormon would become irritated and leave the table? I taught groups which included Jehovah's Witnesses, Catholics, Pentacostals, Seventh-day Adventists, Baptists, Methodists, Lutherans, and Apostolics in a mixed group...sure we had differences of opinions, and were willing to calmly talk about it...the LDS fellows would try to talk loud so we couldn't talk, or would leave the group. Someone want to email that one to me? I would be happy to try to understand!

I have no problems with Mormons. I disagree with some of the Mormon theology. In many respects, I admire members of the LDS. I appreciate your fervor for evangelism and missionary work. You are excellent examples of what family life should be like. Your renowned encouragement of education and work are exemplary. And I know this is trite, but I don't think I have heard more accomplished singers than the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Please do not let the people who do not have an understanding of Gods love cause you to be defensive. I ask you to be open to dialog though, so there might be more understanding on both sides.

I am not Mormon myself, but I agree with you. It is none of other people's goddamn business. Yeah. I am a witch and when I tell some people they are scared. A lot of people judge others without knowing all the details. One of your answers said that you should stop knocking on people's doors. Well not every Mormon does that do they? Christians do the same thing, anyway. I agree with the answer about how now you know what it is like to be gay. My sister is a lesbian and proud of it, but sometimes, she gets disheartened because the government and a lot of people act like they are not human. I think everyone should leave everyone else alone belief-wise. If someone believes something wholeheartedly, no matter how much proof someone has that person won't change their beliefs or feelings.

I'm an atheist, and I don't have any problem with mainstream Mormons. I have some in my own family, and married into a family with some Mormon members. I find them to be nice people and one of the less annoying and pushy sects, and less hysterical about things like censorship and the Harry Potter books.
I thoroughly disapprove of the extremist Mormons who live in seclusion and practice what is tantamount to pedophilia, and exile their young boys to rid themselves of the competition. If you are in this latter (no pun intended) category and I've offended you, I could care less.

For the human beings responding to this: Mormons at the instant are not the human beings abusing their babies and practising polygamy. they are not the human beings who marry their daughters off on a similar time as underage, and that they are not a cult or stay in a commune. Mormons are in simple terms contributors of a faith attempting to do what's appropriate. they have faith in God, they have faith interior the bible, and that they've faith in attempting to be good to human beings. i don't be conscious of why different anyone is so mean. i assume they confuse mormons with contributors of the cults with comparable names.

My problem is being proselytized too. Woo woo, you have a book and a belief. So what. Plenty of others do to. Means nothing.
What impresses me is faith in that can carry a person through hard times. But that STILL doesnt mean that I want yours.
If I was interested, I'd ask. Otherwise, youre preaching to someone who not only not interested, but increasingly annoyed.

Thats not just with Mormons - thats people of all religions.

My problem with mormons is that you can never get a straight answer from them about their beliefs and they sugar coat everything.

Years ago they wanted nothing to do with Christianity they wanted to be known as MORMONS, but ever since their membership is dropping they are trying to convert others by saying they are a Christian denomination.

Oh, enough with the persecution complex! It seems a little strange you would come to a public forum such as this and whine about everyone picking on your LDS beliefs. Maybe take some time to critically examine (read something other than correlated church material) the doctrine you would understand why others criticize your beliefs...because they are a little wacky! (but maybe you haven't been through the temple yet)
