Getting there is easy--just get naked. 3rd base usually means oral and as such, he'll probably want you both ways depending on how aggressive he is--same for you. Personally, 3rd base leads to a home run every time. Ask a couple of your most private friends about 'oral' and make sure of your decision--once you are naked, its to late to say 'no'.
