At this age they only need 2-3 servings of milk products per day. This includes milk, yogurt and cheese. Kidshealth.org says kids only need 2 servings of milk at this age (see link), but I think I gave my children 3. Milk in cereal, 6 oz milk with lunch, maybe a slice of cheese and a cup of milk with dinner. I wouldn't give more than 2 1/2 glasses (20 oz) of actual milk per day. They should be getting nutrition from other foods at this age and not just filling up on milk. Also, if your child is drinking less that is okay too. My oldest daughter was really milk intolerant and she would have soy milk in her cereal and eat yogurt and cheese. My doctor said as long as she had 2 servings of dairy that was okay.

I do not and will not give my 2 year old daughter cow's milk. She is still breastfeeding, but slowly weening herself. Once she no longer wants her mother's milk there is no requirement for her ever again to drink milk.
Humans are the only animal that drinks milk past infancy, and then it's not even from the correct species! Too many people are still trying to defend milk's supposed health benefits. Unfortunately, they are either using old information or information obtained from research funded by the dairy association. How many people would enjoy a glass of dog's milk or rat's milk? What makes cows special?
There are only two reasons which I've found to support humans drinking cow's milk. We have grown up hearing that it's good for us and we've grown accustomed to the taste and texture. There is absolutely no nutrition that can not be obtained elsewhere, minus the negatives. Calcium seems to be the major claim for milk. It can be found elsewhere in green vegetables, almonds, and many other sources. Where do you think the cows obtain the calcium to put into the milk? Where do other larger animals (elephants, horses, deer, whales, etc) get calcium? Why we continue to drink cow's milk laced with growth hormones, antibiotics, and who knows what else is beyond me.
Since I've given up drinking milk about 5 years ago my health has greatly improved. I suffer fewer allergy problems, asthma and breathing problems are greatly reduced, I'm sleeping better, and I have more energy.
In the '50s smoking was considered harmless but now we realize its dangers. One person at a time and eventually the truth will become widely known that cow's milk is only for baby cows. Milk is indeed the perfect food, but only for infants of the proper species.
Do some research online and decide for yourself.

i think of she could be advantageous reason my 6 3 hundred and sixty 5 days previous does in comparison to milk till he's eating oreos or warm cocoa which i make with millk and he's extremely healthy he does eat alot of cereal and does drink the milk interior the bowl after he's carried out. and whilst he replaced into 3 he does no longer drink something yet sunny delight i might make it a million/2 juice and a million/2 water yet thats all he might drink, my daughter is any incorrect way around she can not drink specific juices so she beverages extra milk the only setback is that she gets constipated alot because of the milk so consistent with probability their extra effective off having some milk each and every now and then, you are able to desire to continually do a nutrition supplement in case you think of that she isn't getting adequate nutrition d thats what i do for my son, wish this helps bye

WIC says that they should not be drinking more than 16-20 ounces a day. But little one usually drinks more than that. She usually has 4-5 7 oz sippy cups full.

If your giving them whole milk they probably shouldnt be drinking too much, but lowfat or non fat is ok to drink a lot. My daughter drinks about 5-6 sippy cups a day, sometimes less and sometimes more.

I leave 32 oz with the sitter for the week, for lunch or afternoon time, and she usually has a sippy cup with dinner. She has juice in the morning, and water in between milk. She also eats yogurt quite often.

My pediatrician says 3 8oz servings a day.
My two year old son still uses bottles to nap and sleep at night - it usually takes 2 8oz bottles each time to do the trick.
