the theory of it could be possible, but not likely. but theres something else that would make it even less likely:

if you take a static charged blanket too close to an outlet, and the electricity actually does leap to the blanket, the circuit breaker in your home would trip, which would protect you from everything except that initial zap.

Theoretically, yes, on the practical side, no. What would most likely happen would be that the charge would simple be conducted to the ground or neutral wire and flow to the house ground stake. IF, and this is highly unlikely, there was a sufficient voltage level to cause the air to become plasma, and there was a different circuit path to ground, with your body in the middle, then yes, theoretically it is possible. There is little chance of that in most situations. Being very sensitive to the charge present in the blanket, though could do it.
