God is Truth. God is the Light of lights. God is all-pervading intelligence or consciousness. God is all-pervading Power who governs this universe and keeps it in perfect order. He is the Inner Ruler of this body and mind (Antaryamin). He is omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent.

He exists – past, present and future. He is unchanging amidst the changing phenomena. He is permanent amidst the impermanent, and imperishable amidst the perishable things of this world. He is eternal, perpetual, indestructible, immutable and imperishable.

A world of positives and hopes in spite of the million sufferings.A life of belief and faith on beloved ones over life and death. A universe of love and life over war and battle. God can be taken as anything On the above given. What makes us look at the positives than the negatives, a heart, and a soul which never perishes. Such a supernatural force can be called as God, Nature or anything. Why cannot man stop death ? There lies a world beyond that science can never explain. One example is what happens to the soul after Death. One fitting answer is that Soul is a energy in every being. According to science itself energy can neither be created nor destroyed but only be transferred from one medium to another. So without the omnipotent nothing can move.

Allah , there is no God but him,He [ glory be to him ] is the originator.
the creator of the heavens and the earth and all that is in it above it and
below it,Allah none has the right to be worshipped but He, the everliving,
the self subsisting, the eternal.Allah [glory beto him ] is beyond Human
comprehension and imagination. We only know of him from how much
He[ glory be to him] has reaveled of himself to us in his books of revelation,
Namely The Thorah -the book revealed to prophet Mooses,The Psalms
revealed to prophet David, The Injeel [ the gospel] revealed to prophet
Jesus and the Quran revealed to the Last and final messenger of God
The prophet Muhammad [peace and blessings be on all of them].The Hindu
scriptures, like the Vedas, Puranas, and the bhagwat Gita, the scriptures of
the Sikhs and other religious scriptures all point out to the existance of ONE
God the Omnipotent, The Omniscient , the absolute master of this universe,
without a begining and without an end , who has no human weakness, is in need
of no one, and there is non like him even in the least bit.
We just have to look around and wonder at the creation of the heaven and the
earth, the alternation of night and day, The harmony with which the planets, the
sun the moon the stars all move in their fixed orbits, The beauty of nature and
colours of various plant and animals and the perfection of the human anatomy
to know that all this did not come into existance by chance, or by the coupling
of some amoeba floating around, but all this was brought into existance by the
perfection and power of God almighty .whenever He [ glory be to him] decrees
a matter all he says to it is BE and it comes into existance.
Despite what their scriptures say, followers of some religions have tried to make
Gods out of created human beings, sculputered Idols, animals, created objects, and
some have even attritibuted to him wives, sons and daughters[exalted is he above
all this]but Allah the almighty refutes all these concepts,He[glory be to him] says
in the holy Quran chapter112-Al Ikhlas, which translates as''say; He is Allah, The
one and only-''Allah, the eternal, the absolute,-''He begetteth not, nor was he
begotten-''and there is non like unto him''.This is the touch stone to put to test
any other Gods that human kind can conjure up, compare these unique attributes
of Allah the one true God to any other Gods of your liking and see if they match
up and they never will..Read a tranalation of the holy Quran available in many
languages to understand the concept of God

As I am Roman Catholic, I say there is only one true God, the creator of everything. Some people counter this by saying "Who created God?". The truth is this-- no one created God. He and He alone was around since the beginning of time. It's a mystery than no one can truly and fully understand. You need faith to believe this.
The is only one God, but he is in three persons (referred to as the Holy Trinity). There's God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. This is yet another mystery. Consider St. Patrick's comparison: "God is like a shamrock. On a shamrock, there are three leaves, but there is only one shamrock. It is similar with God. There are three persons, but only one God."

First off, we must recognize that people have many gods; their bellies, their money, their belongings, their status, their science, their countries, movie stars, sports heroes, just to name a few. Others have deities they actually worship, but there are just far too many of those to list here.

However,

"For even though there are those who are called 'gods,' whether in heaven or on earth, just as there are many 'gods' and many 'lords', there is actually to us one God the Father, out of whom all things are, and we for him." 1 Corinthians 8:4-6

So, if you are wanting to know the personal name of the Only True God as defined in The Holy Bible, "Jehovah" is the best known English pronounciation of the devine name, although "Yahweh" is favored by most Hebrew scholars.

You can confirm these facts by checking in any dictionary or encyclopedia, just look up the name! Or, if you have a King James Version of the Bible written before 1970, you can find God's name identified as being Jehovah in four different scriptures; Exodus 6:3, Psalms 83:18, Isaiah 12:2; & 26:4.

You may be interested to learn that names traditionally meant something literal in the old days. For example, Jehovah (or, YHWH in Hebrew) actually means; "He Causes To Become". Fitting, don't you think? FYI, Jesus' name [Jehoshua in Hebrew] actually means "Salvation [or Help] of Jah [Jehovah]".

Unfortunately, many re-translated versions of the Bible have, for various superstitious reasons, deleted Jehovah's name entirely so that it does not appear anywhere at all, even though the original scrolls and earlier translations clearly used God's personal name no fewer than 6,961 times! His Holy name has survived every attempt by religionists to obliterate it. Needless to say, the name of Jehovah will continue to vex the many preachers of false religion for as long as they have left.

It is interesting to note that the Holy Bible proclaimed itself to be fully completed in the third to last verse of Revelation. That scripture was written in 96 AD, over 500 years before Mohamed claimed himself to be a prophet and started a religion called Islam. Mohamed's name does not appear anywhere in the Bible, neither does the name of Mohamed's god, "Allah". I wonder why?

God is not a person in flesh and blood. He is the supreme embodiment of the universal energy. All the living and non-living things are made of this energy. Hence, He is all pervasive. We, the human beings try to visualise Him, in the form of various symbols. The symbols depend on the experience of the visualiser. The God Almighty, has the capacity to respond to our fervent prayers, because the soul within us is the microcosm of the Mighty Energy that He is and He appears Himself to the deserving in the form they visualise Him. Hence, God is both formless and in forms.

the characteristics of Allah (God) are.... (still its just an intro, HIS characterstics are unlimited)
taken from chapter 2 {AL-BAQARA (THE COW)} verse 255. tranlation in english by 3 different tranlators.

002.255
YUSUFALI: Allah! There is no god but He,-the Living, the Self-subsisting, Eternal. No slumber can seize Him nor sleep. His are all things in the heavens and on earth. Who is there can intercede in His presence except as He permitteth? He knoweth what (appeareth to His creatures as) before or after or behind them. Nor shall they compass aught of His knowledge except as He willeth. His Throne doth extend over the heavens and the earth, and He feeleth no fatigue in guarding and preserving them for He is the Most High, the Supreme (in glory).
PICKTHAL: Allah! There is no deity save Him, the Alive, the Eternal. Neither slumber nor sleep overtaketh Him. Unto Him belongeth whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever is in the earth. Who is he that intercedeth with Him save by His leave? He knoweth that which is in front of them and that which is behind them, while they encompass nothing of His knowledge save what He will. His throne includeth the heavens and the earth, and He is never weary of preserving them. He is the Sublime, the Tremendous.
SHAKIR: Allah is He besides Whom there is no god, the Everliving, the Self-subsisting by Whom all subsist; slumber does not overtake Him nor sleep; whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth is His; who is he that can intercede with Him but by His permission? He knows what is before them and what is behind them, and they cannot comprehend anything out of His knowledge except what He pleases, His knowledge extends over the heavens and the earth, and the preservation of them both tires Him not, and He is the Most High, the Great.
