If God is the father, maybe in the tradtion of many other fathers God is cheating and has a "second family" in another part of the universe. Perhaps he is too busy making life somewhere else and he has abandoned his children here on Earth.

At least he could do is send some child support!

Well if the bible is correct, and all that stuff about a god day is a thousand years, then if a flood occurred in under 6 thousand years ago... Well even the cognitively challenged would be able to see signs of a great flood. And to think that a 600 year old man could build a wooden boat the size of Manhattan.

I think you're sort of mixing apples and oranges here, although you're not alone. Genesis was never intended to be read as history, but rather as a meditational and metaphoric text.

But you do quite rightly draw the idea out that we humans are responsible for the care of the earth and whether or not you believe in the G-d of the Scriptures, the responsibility for everything from global warming to giving spare change to a beggar is in our hands.

The Flood story is just a morality tale about wipeing the slate clean.
It has a basis in fact but the ark was a series of boat/pontoon bridges that allowed animals to cross from a flood plain (Between the Tigris and Eufradies) to higher ground... It is a PRE biblical tale from Mesopotamia.

Yes. He cant even take care of two people in a garden. So yes we are on our own. Funny how we still believe in magic and fables but have the power to destroy the world a few times over.

These things boggle my mind at times and influence me to question my faith. But, I know something exists. I don't know what or who, but something does.

It is my belief that "they" are a bistander, and they remain as such because we are meant to grow and learn from our mistakes and accomplishments. If "they" were to fix everything for us, what purpose would we have?

Just as if we were "all knowing", what would there be left to think about? There would not even be a purpose for that part of a brain to exist anymore.

1. Is the world over? Has the end come yet?? Answer these two questions before answering yours. 2.Maybe God is letting man deal with these things. We don't seem to want God to intervene in our schools (no prayer) Christmas displays (not on public grounds) Science classes (not teaching the possibility of intelligent design/creation) Maybe He's letting us figure this one out on our own. ***3.Maybe He did send someone to correct these problems...but we (his parents) aborted him !!

take the view of God as an architect , a designer ,an artist, an engineer .... do you really think he'd be there to hold your hand all the time , God constantly wanting to interveneing is the biggest farce relgion has ever dreamed up and the sole point where all their blind faith falls down

How come a-theists always phrase their question from the arrogant perch of the all-seeing. Most who post here appear embarrassingly adolescent and conceited.

IF you cared to find out you'd find out how uninformed you are on a subject you think you are so insightful about. You know nothing about the contents of scripture because your only intent is to invalidate. That is biased and narrow minded. Closed. Small. Petty. Do you get it yet?

God destroyed the world (age) eon in the Greek, to save His children. He will soon destroy those who destroy the Earth. So you could say He's an environmentalist. Can you believe that? He who created all the wonderful life cares about it? Hard to grasp isn't it?

Hey! You still there? Didn't think so.

Revelation 11:17,18

17Saying, We give thee thanks, O LORD God Almighty, which art, and wast, and art to come; because thou hast taken to thee thy great power, and hast reigned.

18And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth.
