Paid state taxes from federal refund because pension failed to take out taxes?

Federal refund was taken by state to ofset shortage in 05. How can I deduct this monies on 06 fed return

cannot get internet site to ask me about that.

The additional state taxes paid in 2006 for 2005 is deducted on Schedule A in 2006. You add it to the other state income taxes you paid either through withholding or estimated tax payments.
