We don't celebrate Jesus' resurrection with bunnies and eggs. This tradition actually date back to the Tower of Babel. A man named Nimrod had a son. His son died and his wife resurrected his son. The Chaldeans (a group of Babylonians who were the ruling class of Babylon) celebrated this event with bunnies and eggs. It just so happens that the event celebrated involves resurrection thus Christians celebrate Jesus' resurrection on this day.

Excellent question!!!
And some very good posts!!!
Yes easter is a pagan holiday that pre-dates Christ.....same as christmas.
Would it surprise you if I told you Jesus was not born on December 25th. The bible doesn't give this date as his birthday. It was an old sun worship (not son worship) holiday based on the sun dying at the shortest day(s) of the year and being born again.
Easter was the celebration of the goddess of fertility. She was known under different names of various nations and languages. Your other poster correctly states these historical threads go all the way to the tower of babel.
One name the goddes was known under was the Greek Ester.
As a fertility goddess, she had bunnies and eggs as celebratory symbols.
During the Roman domination of the known world it gradually influenced the true christian faith with Romish pagan practices. Rome as occuppying empire allowed local states to practice their traditions and blended them in with old traditions as well.
When the Roman church came to the new world they allowed Indians to continue their spiritual practices but blended with Roman christianity.
Biblical Christianity is much purer and unpolluted with pagan practices.
Jesus gave us one celebration as a commandment to follow and he told those remaining after his death that they would have no part with him unless they ate his body and drank his blood. This was an alarming and hard doctrin and many left the flock, not realizing Jesus was pointing to the LORD's supper whci would replace the Jewsih Passover. The Passover was the sacrificed Lamb for sin and Jesus became our sacrificial Lamb to cover our sines.
Easter was brought in by Romish christians as a polluted adaptation of Jesus death and ressurection. The correct celebration is the LORd's supper and it does not fall on a Friday- Sunday every year. (In fact no body death is remembered by a day, but a date).
The calculation for remembering Jesus throught the LORd's supper is the same time as the Passover.
There are excellent articles on all the above topics on this website-

Hope this hstorical recap is helpful.
GOD bless

they have no longer something to do with one yet another. The remembrance of the death and resurrection of Jesus far outweighs previous pagan rituals. Handing out candy or eating an egg is something it rather is recommended to do for exciting yet the two are no longer linked in any way nor does it have the comparable meaning that pagans gave it. do no longer you come across it ironic that Jesus has lots extra importance on as we communicate? Any day that Jesus is remembered makes each and everything else insignificant. and that's the way it continually would be.

Actually eggs, bunnies, pastel colors, etc. are all Pagan traditions from the Pagan holiday, Ostara. The Christians took these traditions and integrated them as their own to help convert the Pagans to Christianity. Same thing with Christmas, All Saints Day, and Groundhog Day. They were all originally Pagan holidays.

As an atheist, I find the Cadbury Cream Egg as the most exaulted, holiest of candy, especial given its limmited seasonal availability. (The caremel egg is amazing, too.)
Peeps, on the otherhand, my in fact be empircal evidence of Satan. I hate those effin peeps! Not only are they grosss and stupid, but they get caught up in that celophane grass my mother insists on lining my basket with.
If I were to ventur a guess, I think the real reason Abraham was going to slaughter his son was that he was in a dehydration-induced delusional epsiode and thought his son was a peep!
PEEPS CAN ROT IN HELL!!!!!!

I guess people (kids) are more interested in celebrating it the pagan way! You know, it's not really fun if you don't have any bunnies and eggs, etc!
