can't upgrade from pro to home it veiws it as a downgrade you can upgrade home to pro. so if you have pro and want home you need to format and start again, reboot your comp with cd in and watch if it askes to boot from cd then go from there

What error are you getting? Are you running the CD from within windows, or from boot?

Ah ok. You're getting that error because you have Pro, Home is a step down, sort of. If for some reason you still want Home, choose "New Installation" rather than "Upgrade".

You stated that you have Windows XP Professional
and yet you want to upgrade to XP Home

This is not possible

From XP Prof to Home is a DOWNGRADE - not possible

Keep XP pro if you can. It is better.
What is the error?
