You can check your anti freeze yourself by goin to autozone and get and antifreeze tester (maybe $2). Pretty much just a clear guage with a tube on one end and a squeeze ball on the other. Suck some antifreeze into it and read where the guage to tell if you've got the right mixture. Also, you might want to switch to a lighter engine oil like a 20 wt (it'll say in your manual what you need to be running for certain temps, and you'll be at the lower end of it). And check your tire pressure, it should be lower in the cold weather so go ahead and add a little. Just be sure to keep an eye on it when it gets warm again cause you might need to bleed of a little pressure.

Be certain the anitfreeze is safe to at least -30 degrees. Check all the hoses for cracks. Cold weather makes them stiff and they might puke on you. You didn't mention the year of the vehicle. If it is five years old or less the hoses should be good. Todays rubber compounds are much tougher than the old ones.
Check the fan belts for cracks or little strings coming out. Check tire pressure. Driving from a warm climate to a cold one will cause the tires to lose pressure. Check them when cold.
Get new wiper blades if yours leave even small streaks. You can lose the ability to see if a bunch of salty slush lands on your windshield and the wiper blades can't clean it off.
Be certain all lights work, you want people to be able to see you coming.

i own a shop, and you need to make sure the anti freeze is good for at least -20 or better ,and make sure all the fluids have been changed in it,getting there and finding out this stuff wasn't up to date is a bad thing, been to new york, and they have some really cold temps, its going to be a lot different from Florida ,but make sure its all in good shape, cold temperatures have a way of creeping up on a vehicle, good luck,i hope this help,s.
