No. One of the contraindications for Fosamax is a history of stomach problems. There are other medications you can try. Your doctor should have asked if you had problems in the past.
You could try taking Citracal or another calcium tablet (remember to take Vit D so the calcium will be optimally absorbed, if there isn't already Vit D in the tablets), and increasing your weight bearing exercizes (on a regular basis), and see what your bone density test shows in 6 months to a year. Actually, that should have been the first option of treatment. Why jump to the expensive drugs right away?

Well, yes I think you should. The doctor did suggest that you take it. Did you discuss the stomach problems with the doc?
I guess you could have a good stomach and a lot of broken bones. Don't ya think that is kind of a dumb question?

My grandma took that for a short time. She really had problems with it. Stomach problems and no matter how much water she drank with them they'd stick in her throat. When they stuck they'd literally make burns in her throat. The doctor switched her to actonel and she hasn't had any problems with that.
