So,I made a 1-year donation 'contract' with a company. Every month,$20 would be charged to my credit card for 1 year.

Alright,no problem.

But it's been a year and two months... and they're STILL charging me.

Is this illegal? What should I do to stop this? And I know-I'm an idiot. Spare me. <3

Either email the company; if you have an account number make it as a reference on the email and tell them you wish to cancel the account. If email does not work. See if the company has an 800 number and call them and talk to a live person. This way they can get your account number and tell them you want to discontinue their services and that you was charged for one month too many.

I worked at a well-known bank's call center. Here's what ya do :) First, call the company. Do not settle with just speaking to whoever you get to answer the phone. Speak with their manager, their manager's manager, whoever you need to until you get your resolution. Sometimes this is impossible. In these cases, file a dispute with your bank/credit card company. VISA has policies in place to protect you from these things. Be honest with them. Tell them that it was ok for them to take it out of your account for ONE year, but they haven't stopped and you have nowhere else to call. It will take awhile, but this will stop and you should get refunded. Another option would be to change your credit card number. This is much easier to do if it's a debit card, but you can change your credit card number also so they can't withdraw funds, as the info they have won't match. You're not an idiot, you have a giving spirit and were taken advantage of. Go claim what's yours :) Good luck!

I also faced a similiar problem online. They keep on charging. I e-mailed the bank and ordered stop payment immediately. Two of my credit cards, I have blocked. Now I try not to do any business on line, which requires credit card payment. My two credit cards still remain blocked.

This is the reason that we have to be careful using our on-line banking. My neighbor and I have had overdrafts because of business taking double payments out or taking unjust payments. The bank does not seem to want to help. Call the place where the money is going and tell them to stop taking your money. Also, if they have an e-mail address, e-mail them the request also and keep a copy. I would also write them a letter and copy the letter, even have it sent as "Registered Mail." I would also tell them to refund the money that unjustly took, they usually do. Watch it.
