The census bureau has some of that data.
First marriages that end in divorce last about 8 years, on
average.
Unmarried cohabitations overall are less
stable than marriages. The probability of a first marriage ending in separation or divorce within 5 years is 20 percent, but the probability of a premarital cohabitation breaking up within 5 years is 49 percent. After 10 years, the probability of a first marriage ending is 33 percent, compared with 62 percent for cohabitations.
From what I've seen I'm going to guess that the average length of a boyfriend / girlfriend relationship when they *don't* ever move in together is two years.

Hi,
I was married for 12 years before I got my divorce back in 1998.
Then 6 months after my divorce was all final, I met a great guy and we have been together ever since!!
Relationships are hard work and it's hard to tell how long they will last but some are well worth it...just like the relationship that i'm in now!!

Thats a really good question, there are loads of flings these days, its like the "new" thing. But if it was a serious relationship i would say it lasts for like 8 months or so, but if the relationship lasts more, its likely to last even much more you know.

I would say there is no real limit to a relationship these day.. It is really on the people in the relationship. As for a survey haven't go a clue.

The answer depends on the man's commitment level, his devotion level, his understanding level, his personal growth level, his maturity level, etc.

It depends on the quality of the man.

DO NOT LET ANYONE TELL YOU OTHERWISE.

Next question!

good question...does this include marriages or just boyfriend/girlfriend situations? the figures would change based on that. I'd like to know both.

I met my husband of 20 years when we were in grade school, so all told our relationship has lasted for 29 years so far! I'm quite proud of that, thanks for asking! :-)
