Its NOT okay for EITHER to walk out. Why did you get the Idea that its okay?! Fathers walking out seem to be more apparent and common, but that doesn't mean its okay.
I think mothers generally don't walk out on they're children because they seem to be more in touch with they're children from the very start -- I don't know why, thats just my opinion.

I don't think it's ok for either to walk out on their family. I believe society made it ok for a father to walk out especially since in the past it was also rare to give a father custody of their children. Since the man did not give birth to the children, I believe it is perceived that he would not have the same feelings and instincts as the mother. But lately, I have noticed that some fathers are better parents than the mothers. I have also noticed that there is a slight rise in the number of child support being paid to the father by the mother...I think the tables are slowly turning.

Honey - mothers walk out on their families EVERY day! It may not be announced in public as much as when a father leaves a family but I've even heard when both parents walk out on their children! Now that's NOT OKAY!!!

It's not okay.But I think it seems more devastating when a mom does it because she has a connection to that child that the father doesn't.She felt it kick from the inside,he(the father)had to feel it through her.I always tell my fiance' that he has the option to walk out on our daughter,but I don't and couldn't if I did have that option.Someone has to raise her,and I feel that I am the BEST person for the job.Sure I need him to be there and so does she,but if she can't have us both,she will always have ME!

I don't know where you got your facts about abandonment, but you are dead wrong!! It is most certainly NOT ok for a father or a mother to walk out on their family!!!

It's never ok for a mother or father to walk out. I think because more men do it it has become the norm and men in our society are the so called dominate sex, so whatever they do is overlooked.

because the mother carried the child for nine months gave birth and they are supposed to always be their i dont really know though to me it isnt right if either one walks out. even if the father and mother cant work out they shouldnt punish the child. its not their fault and they need both parents.

It isn't OK for either. I think more fathers do it than mothers, but it's as wrong for fathers as ity is for mothers.
