Verification and Activation relies on the use of Original Software Keys. If you have a burned copy of your XP Install Disk, and still use your XP Key on the side or bottom of your machine, you'll be fine as long as you don't allow anyone else to use your key for their machine.

If you're using a downloaded copy of Windows with a key off of the internet, if Microsoft is aware of it, you won't be able to activate it if someone else has already. If it's hacked so that activation doesn't work, then you can't get updates at all past SP1. SP2 requires Genuine Windows Validation.

If you have original windows XP CD with activation code and you have installed in your computer and activated already and you want to duplicate your original cd than you can but you have to use only in your computer when your windows xp will crash or corrupt. it can be again activated by the same key..but if u use in others computer than you cannot. If you want pirated windows XP with updates than there are many available in the internet and market. you can buy and use it...it can still update all the microsoft update..and the geniune windows will also say that your Windows in Genuine. No problem, enjoy.

Product Activation works by validating that the software's product key, required as part of product installation, has not been used on more PCs than is allowed by the software's end user license agreement (EULA).

In general, Windows XP can be installed on one PC and Office 2003 or Office XP can be installed on one PC and the laptop computer used by the user of the one PC. (For specifics, please see the EULA accompanying your product.)

Product key information, in the form of the product ID, is sent along with a "hardware hash" (a non-unique number generated from the PC's hardware configuration) to Microsoft's activation system during activation. In Windows XP SP1, the product key itself is sent in addition to the product ID. Activation is completed either directly via the Internet or by a telephone call to a customer service representative. Activations on the same PC using the same product key are unlimited.

Product Activation discourages piracy by limiting the number of times a product key can be activated on different PCs.

If your hardware and configuration is significantly different than the purchaser's, it will not work and can you spell i-l-l-e-g-a-l?

no, there is a long serial number (registration number i think) that you have to enter before it will let you install. even if it was an original, you'd need that code so as long as someone else is using it, you won't be able to. there is probably a way to do it that is not legal, perhaps you'll get that answer.

That's illegal. There is no way to get it verified unless you PAY for it. Duh.
