I am in exactly the same spot as you, black and white check floor, white cabinets, black iron pot rack, black counter tops, black appliances .... and I am going with walls in..CAPPACINO!!!
Yep, a rich yummy cappacino brown. I saw this online somewhere and loved the pic.
So warm yet not too dark because of all the white. Trim in white also. It is a big room and bright. I may make my own black and white toille valances with white bifolds on the windows.I will accent in grape vines, plants and a feel of french bistro.
The deep burgundy is also a wonderful idea.

Since you already have the black appliances and the black & white checkerboard floor, I think the walls would be beautiful in red, and doo your woodwork in black.
Yellow would also be very nice, if you feel red would be too bold. Hope this helps.

Paint the walls the same color white that the cabinets are in.
Pop your backsplash with red, if you only have a very small backsplash then you might want to consider painting your ventahood red. Do your baseboards in the same red (Sherwin Williams Positive Red).
If you have moulding, go red.
Bear with me......but go red on the ceiling with a single glaze technique, ie: ragging. Base coat Sherwin Williams "Stop", and top coat Sherwin Williams Positive Red.
Take some photos of veggies and have them blown up and printed off at snapfish or kodak. This will dust in your colors like greens, yellows......
oh and hardware......metalicize your existing hardware with a metalic paint. Modern Masters makes a red called "sashay red" i think.

You could do canary yellow if you want BOLD. You could do aqua or green apple if you chicken out!
Every color looks great with black and white, it just depends on mood that you want to create. You could even add an orange stool to contrast with the wall color for extra tang!
Go for it.

If you like a contemporary or industrial look you could try silver or a silver, black and white faux finish.
I like yellow with those colors but I avoid yellow in my dining areas since I have a weight problem and yellow stimulates appetite.

sounds like something that might be a bit on the retro side of things...be bold and paint it 1957 pink. it is not a loud or hot colour, and dad did get accustomed to it so did i, and mom loved it as soon as it was done...in 1957 i remember it well (wish i had a picture of dad's face when he came in from work and saw the pink kitchen, it was priceless, pained, but priceless)

No to the other answers ...Maroon/deep burgandy...abosloutly beautiful together with blk and wht!!!! but it depends on the lighting you have in that room and the size of the room. dark colors make the room appear smaller if the room has little natural lighting. brighter colors make it appear bigger w/ little natural lighting

Purple..........you can never go wrong with purple. Everyone expects red or yellow with black/white. Otherwise, I liked the silver someone else mentioned.
