In Sep 2006 I sold 835 shares of ATT. All of the shares were dividend reinvestment purchases. When I moved I mistakenly threw away my records of these purchases. How can I figure my cost basis for the stock.

Call your broker or check the website for the records. Or you can use a chart of the stock price and guess but be careful, the IRS will look into this if they think you made a mistake.

Good Luck,

Contact your broker. If the stock was held with the same broker since you originally purchased the shares, he/she should be able to get the information for you.

Your broker should have records of the purchase in his files. He may provide them free of charge, or charge you a "research" fee for the copies, depending on how good of a client you are.
