Quick question, when you get tested for allergies do they check specifically for something you tell them or do the results tell you everything or most things you are allergic to??

They do "scratch" your back with some small stuff that you might be allergic to. That way, they will be able to tell what might turn your allergies off. It's painless.

a test called the scratch test wherein the doc specifically an allergologist doctor will scratch several things on the skin and it will determine food, medication and all allergies. it really helps for allergic persons. then he will give a maintainance medication that to take in case any allergic reaction will arise. :-) allergies could be dangerous but they are very manageable once you know what you are allergic too. :-) God bless you. your baby should get this test. it's usually available on with an allergologist doctor and in some hospitals too.

I was tested for allergies about 10 years ago so I'm not sure if any advances have been made since.
Anyway, I was tested for everything under the sun. I'm certain any good Doctor will listen to your concerns and test you specifically for something that's concerning you in addition to making sure you don't have any severe allergies to everything else they can test for.
Good Luck! It's really not that bad at all and I eventually grew out of all my really bad allergies. I hope you do as well.
Sarah
PS. It's really important that you speak up when you are talking to your Doctor. You know your body better than anyone!

the skin tests can produce false positive results but teh very accurate one is a RAST blood test where they test for specific protein or ingredients, it is very precise and done 1/yr to see if any change etc
