What do you think of a 22 year old female wanting to date a 17 year old boy?

The boy has never had a real relationship.

apparently she has "liked" other 16/17 year old boys before. She told one of them that she researched it and that 17 year olds are legal to date.

I am the mother of the 17 year old boy. I am not the female. Personally I think she is either very insecure or has some sort of problem. I think that age difference does matter at this age. I would feel totally different if he was 27 and she was 32.

I happen to find it odd, as I am close to her age and couldn't really see myself with a teenage boy. It's a maturity issue. I can't imagine having alot in common and being on the same level as a 17 year old boy. Just my opinion though.

This can go wrong for two very serious reasons.

First, you are at different stages in life. If he's 17 he's probably looking to apply and go off to college. You are 22 so you have probably just gotten out of college and into the real world. Think about it. If you do get involved and managed to stay that way in 3 years you'll be 25 and probably thinking marriage and kids and he'll still be in college, not old enough to drink and probably not thinking that long term.

Second, never been in a real relationship is a warning sign for me. If you want to just date then go for it. But if you want a relationship i suggest someone else. Cause people who have never been in real relationships have a few more hurdles to overcome than those who've been there and done that. Not to say it can't work but there are some things that they've never been thru that you may have and that could be difficult.

Ten. And where is this girl's parents for God's sake. That 22 year old boy has no business being with someone who is still in high school. It doesn't say much for his maturity level. And she shouldn't be with some boy who has way more experience than she does when it comes to dating and relationships. When she is in her 20s that 5 year difference won't mean zilch but at 17 it's 4 more years than it should be.

check with your local cop. I believe this is the same as a Man and as girl. Your son is underage.

He wont be within a year though, so you may have to deal with it when he turns 18 anyway.

Maybe a complaint to the cops will scare her off.

I wouldnt worry about an 18 year old gut with a 22 y/o woman .

Makes sense to me my first intimant Female friend was 27 & I was 14..(technically I lost virginity on that one) and most of my GFs have been older in fact... hey someone has to know what they are doing Right?

Honestly? I really dont even consider younger girls than me even for a causual movie date..) I'm 47.. and anyone under 50 i just say no to girl wise... they arent worth a (insert yer own expleitive here LOL)

Afive year difference isn't really a big deal, but what if his parents find out....? what will they do about it? but besides that i don't think is a bad thing, go for it has long as you know you wont get in trouble by the cops. good luck, show that boy how it is being with a older women. injoy
