Shaving your arms only ONCE will not cause the hair to grow back thick, prickly etc. The hairs only feel prickly because shaving cuts the top of the hair off therefore making it feel sharp and pointed. Just keep exfoliating and moisturising your arms.
I shaved my arms for about a year when I was 13 and my hairs did not grow back any differently.
If you really do not like the hair try having your arms waxed. I have been waxing mine since I was 14 (now 21) and have never looked back. Your arms will be so soft and appear really toned once you have waxed them and the hair will not begin to grow back for a few weeks.

Shaving doesn't make your hair grow coarser and it will eventually soften again.
What often happens, though, is that girls shave because the hair is growing coarser and they then blame the increasing coarseness on shaving when it was growing coarser anyway as a result (as all hair other than scalp hair is) of stimulation by the male hormone testosterone.
Hairy arms are a sign of masculinity in a girl which is why boys take notice of them and why many girls do shave them.

The hair on your arms will NEVER be the same as they were before you shaved them. Shaving blunts the ends of the hair, it does not remove the hair from the root also shaving makes hair grow back darker and thickens the root. STOP shaving your arms straight away let them grow and go to a salon and get them waxed that way the hair will be ripped out by the root and after about the 2nd time of getting them waxed thay will be growing back MUCH fairer. Tough luck. Once you've shaved something, the hair glands are triggered to produce more. Good thing you've only done it once. So the glands aren't that annoyed. And the new hairs aren't too thick yet. Check out how guys have to shave their faces almost daily. For all the girls and pre-teens don't start shaving, once you start you can never stop (no, not pringles). Aaargh...The torture of shaving knicks and waxing, no thank you! Legs are the worst, especially when you're sexually acitve and you forgot to shave. Oh, some guys even consider it sexy when a girl has lot of natural body hair. Just as some girls like hairy chests.

There are some body moisturizers that have an ingredient that help make your hair fine and not grow back so think. That would help the sticking up factor. You can find it at Target and by many different companies.
Good Luck

I shave my arms, I haven't in a long time, but my hair never really grew back. maybe just leave it alone and it should stop, that is what I did anyway.
you should tell that guy he is hairy somewhere and see if he shaves for you!!

There isn't anything you can do, just wait. As time goes by they will start getting normal. I've done it before and they always get back to normal. Next time use another method, I have used NADs and it works great on arms. Your skin feels different because your used to having soft skin...

wax them and they'll go back to normal
shaved hair always goes back to normal after a few months but you can speed it up by waxing it, this will cause all new hairs to grow in and they will be back to normal.
The hair glands (folicles) don NOT change you cut off the sun bleached weathered parts and it grew in clean and crisp.

Use Nair on it. The hair will be gone for a couple of weeks and will grow out soft.

Nope, they won't ever be the same. How do I know? Because when I was younger I shaved my arms which resulted in having arm hair like yours. You could just adjust them everyday (primp your arm hair) or just live with it.
