it is common today to paint walls with latex wall paint, and baseboards with latex enamel. enamel is more durable, and a gloss, or semi-gloss finish will be easier to clean on baseboards. use a flat or satin finish on the walls, or semi-gloss in the kitchen and bath.

as someone who has been painting professionally for about 30 years, i would highly suggest using an OIL based paint on the trim.

nothing stands up on trim better than OIL.

satin or eggshell latex on the walls.

almost all the trim i paint is white. it looks crisp, clean and makes the woodwork stand out.

No, it's not very appealing to the eye, and trim should be painted with a oil base paint, walls would be painted with a water base paint

You have to live with the results of what you paint, so anything you like is ok. I prefer contrast between walls and trim.

Sure, it makes "cutting in " with a brush much easier. It will look fine..Just got done painting a large home this way. The decorator was some big wig from Dallas.

It is better not to. -

same color would be too much and it is better to paint it a contrasting or coordinating color if you want something different.

I usually suggest an off white trim or a lighter color than the wall color. It highlights/outlines the wall nicely.

trim should be semi gloss and wall paint should be eggshell.

It does make the space seem bigger due to no defining lines, However it is bland and lacks any visual stimulation. Its always better looking to accent the wall with subtle trim color, or excentric if thats the scope your going for.

You won't like the way it looks. Use white on the trim. It will accent the walls and look much better.

You can do this without a problem. It will make the room appear larger. Do keep in mind though, that it is not in fashion.
