could it have something to do with a relatively recent death?

Absolutely!

I suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and severe anxiety after surviving 9/11. Anything that you perceive to be tragic can lead to anxiety.

I would speak with your current physician and he/she should be able to recommend a suitable psychiatrist.

I wish you all the best! Please remember that the sooner you treat it the more manageable it can be!

Yes Definitely it is due to this reason. Loss of near and dears leave big gaps in our lives. This becomes exremely difficult to forget the loss. Time is only answer. As time passes our defence mechanisms tend to put losses in back ground and we forget the past. Only answer to your problem is that you must start a new life each morning you get up. And remember God for giving a beautyful day in your life.

Yes it could, but it could be alot of things so you need to see your physician and talk to them about it and the both of you decide what your options are. Perhaps medications are not needed at this time and perhaps they are, but that should be a decision the both of you should make together.
