One would think that you are right. It is nearly impossible to destroy such an elusive enemy and still follow the rules of engagement even when they dont have to.

Finally someone else sees the light. Why can people not see the more judgmental of our military that they are, the more restraints & rules they are given & thus the chance of winning or even surviving lessens. The rules of engagement are long & drawn out, by the time they are properly done our soldiers are already being shot at. The Geneva Convention rules must be followed but not the rules of engagement. The US soldier that was indicted in Italy Tuesday is an outrage. The 2 Italian soldiers & the stupid newsman ran a security post after being told to stop several times & without letting anyone know they were "rescueing" the newsman. How was the US soldier suppose to know they did not have a bomb? You can not charge a soldier doing his duty during wartime but Italy knows best - what idiots. The US will not disclose his location. Italy broke the Geneva Convention rules trying to find dirty information on our President & are using our miltary heroes to do it. We can not join that group.

I think there should be a new set of rules written for terrorists. After all, the Geneva Convention only rule those countries who signed the pact in the first place and I'm sure no one from a terrorist group was represented. What should the rule be? Kill them. Kill them all!!!!!!!

There are acts that Americans will never know since the US is using Private Military Corporations that do not follow any convetions and are not protected. The US always has done dirty deeds that will never be brought to justice. USMC LTC Oliver North and Fawn Hall protected NOT just President Reagan, BUT "Covert Intelligence Agents" in Europe up to 1986-1987. I am glad he did since he saved the bacon of not jus non-military,but especially all military. Thank God for Ollie North! I enjoy watching his War Stories on FOX.

Agreed. Untie our troops hands and let them fight the war that they find themselves in. If memory serves me correctly beheadings on international television is illegal.
As for the first person who answered, Saddam publicly anounced to the world that he, as ruler of Iraq, was giving $10,000 to the family of each suicide bomber. That is state sponsored terrorism. Public Beheadings are completely against the Geneva Convension, yet the insurgens do it all the time. Please see the link below if anyone here has forgotten this. Pre warning - the link below has links to several of the televised beheadings which the Insurgense have committed. Watch each one and tell me how infuriated you are after and how much our own troops are being civil in their discourse.

We are bound to the international law, that is why we can reason our justice! If we violated this law, nobody will follow it and it will be worse for the soldiers in the future. I agree that war is hard for our soldiers! Please show them as much support as you can so they will feel that they are not alone, we are still behind and support for them! this is the only way to lead us to victory!

The US is making up the rules as they go along. It has illegally invaded a country, terrorised the occupants and tortured detainees.
Outside Iraq, there are innocent people being kidnapped and secretly taken to places like Kabul, where they are tortured. The US is making up laws to prosecute opposition soldiers after detaining them with no charges for up to 5 years.
Is this a country following the rules or is it state sponsored terrorism?
Daddyspan, that doesný alter the fact that the US is not adhering to the geneva convention. In fact, there are warrants for the arrest of the CIA agents that kidnapped a german citizen, took him to Kabul and tortured him. I ask again, does that sound like tha actions of a law abiding country?
