Street price for XTi is $700 body only and $780 with the kit lens (USD). So 350 will be super cheap and $500 still super cheap. I won't comment further then this as it's already under priced

Modern electronics are one thing that the price comes down on. Sweet, isn't it? It's because every day they come out with newer, smaller, faster, better stuff, and they want us to buy it to replace our old slow stuff. But they also want to get rid of the old slow stuff already on the shelves, and the only way to make it competitive is to drop the price. It's like buying the year-end models of new cars to make room for the newer ones. You can get some sweet deals, if you don't mind that it's not the latest stuff.

The more cameras they sell of a given model the cheaper the cost of production is for each unit they make and therefore the cheaper they can afford to sell them for. Natural marketplace competition means that everyone is selling as cheaply as possible to keep their share of the market.

Considering how sales are slumping, it is hard to tell at this point.
