Hamas is a tough one..... One of the major issues there is that part of Hamas basic beliefs is that Israel should be destroyed. They fire rockets randomly into Israel with no regard for what or who they hit since they regard all Israelis as the enemy. Israel is FAR more powerful than Hamas so when they hit back it looks like a completely lopsided fight. Its like smashing ants with a jackhammer.... Hamas fighters dont wear uniforms, or carry a flag, or identify themselves. They blend into Palestinian places and then launch little skirmishes when they have the upper hand. Unfortunately, the places they attack form are often public places such as markets, and apartment complexes, and Israel has suggested schools and hospitals. I would be reluctant to call Hamas fighters terrorists. They are definitely freedom fighters fighting for what they believe in vs an army that is world class. Im not sure how you would expect them to fight any other way. The problem with that is that if you are attacking from the midst of all of your neighbors, you cant get mad if your neighbors die in the crossfire. A very tricky situation to navigate. Ultimately it will take a change in both of their basic views of each other. Israel will have to accept that the Palestinians will not be bullied. Palestinians will have to accept that Israel will not be destroyed. Only when these two things come together will there be any lasting peace for either of them.
