Hi my girlfriend has great credit and only uses on credit card never cancels it and mostly pays in cash so she doesnt want any new credit cards or loans due to she owns her own home without a mortgage.

Her question is she is parionoid about idenetity theft. Since she does need more credit cards or loans is it good for her to contact the three agencies about puting a lock on her name so nobody or her can open up any credit cards in her names or loans. I mean she doesnt need any new credit. How does this work? She lives in NY

I am an independent associate for id theft shield. She might want to look into this if she is paranoid. We will alreat her the moment something hits her credit and if she does become a victim, we are the only company who will restore it. This would probably set her at ease. Let me know and I can send you info!

It's reasonable to be paranoid about Identity Theft. It is the number 1 white collar crime and this is because it is so difficult to get the bad guys. "Locking" the report will not stop ID Theft. There are lots of ways to steal the information. There is no way to stop it, you can only exercise caution, ie. shredding anything that comes into your home, using OPT OUT options, never mail a bill from your home mail box etc. You should have something to monitor activity on not only your credit report but the other forms of identity (health record, criminal history etc.).

A fraud alert on a credit file only lasts 3 months. The best product I've located is Identity Theft Shield by Kroll. If you are interested in learning more, you can call me at 800-859-1928 x 100.
