Letters and visiting are great ideas!! Would your school allow you to set up collection cans in each homeroom or the cafeteria? Cancer bills are outrageous, and any help the family can get I'm sure will be appreciated. Students and faculty could drop change into it, and believe me, it all adds up.

I would think most importantly, that you remain in contact with him and his family. Ask how he is doing, if he feels up to company, if there's anything they need. Ask if he wants some help with his homework.

Interesting question - you are looking for a solution without knowing exactly what the problem is.

The problem - here is a boy with cancer who needs support.
But what does he need? Can he move around and go out? We don't even know what country he is in - the US? What are HIS needs? Is he lonely - can he still go to school - does he have hair - is he undergoing treatment, and if so, what kind?

Could be he needs company when he is in a clinic or a hospital, someone to just be with him and talk with him, do homework with him, stuff like that.

Could be he wants contact with a world he can't take part in directly - music, parties, athletic events.

Is he depressed? Sad? Angry? Tired out and doesn't care any more? All of these are things cancer patients can go through - each demands a different response.

Talk to parents - doctors - professionals in the area of cancer care for guidance. You're doing a great thing - but it sounds like you need to do some more homework to find out what needs to be done.

Good luck,.

Have a benefit dance to raise money to help with hospital bills. Its too cold to do car washes in most places. However, if you are in a warm place do that to raise money for his bills. The family is probaly really stressed out about the situation, so I suggest also sending letters to his home for not only him, but his family to. Anything that you can do to ease the hardship on his family would be very considerate. Also, call into a local radio stations and tell them the situation. You would not believe what one voice can do for someone else. Everything is possible with determination. This family needs help and you are the one who wants to do it. Bless you for that.

You can get on the internet and solicit the help of charitable organizations who get a hold of famous stars and have them come visit him. Found out who his favorite actor or sports person is.
