I think it looks great if it is done right!
Don't have it spiked all around, but keep it short on the sides and have a messy spike going on up top.
No mohawks!

depending on the spike. If it's ALL over spike?! no.. a faux hawk or even mohawk would be a good choice for spiking, but not just, wetting your hair and spiking it up, if it's short.. =)
