This is the most annoying thing about you fundamentalists. You call everyone who isn't a fundamentalist an atheist. Buddhists have prayers. So do Jews. So even do Moslems.

And you fundamentalist dingbats even call other Christians atheists; Mormons, Catholics, Jehovah's Witnesses, Episcopalians(You remember them. They're the evil ones who ordain gay bishops).

Well, guess what! All these people pray. Yet you fundamentalists call them atheists. And now you ask them if they'd like YOU to say a prayer for them, as if God pays more attention to your prayers than he does to theirs.

Now if you're talking about real atheists---people who don't believe in God---sure, go ahead and pray for them. I'm sure they won't mind.

Prayer is often used as an excuse for people to do nothing when there is a problem. It is an easy way out for the weak-minded. Instead of taking action, you just sit back and hope that some imaginary dude in the sky will make it all better.

It's just a waste of time. Besides, if you read your Bible, you would not be trying to get atheists to pray. The Bible says, "If one turns away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer is an abomination." - Prov. 28.9

Eh, not to be rude or dismissive, but a lot of people try before they leave. One thing I do adamantly believe is that in prayer a lot of people just close their eyes and talk to the air. In any of my prayers [Not to your deity, but I don't want to get all technical] I can't just talk to air, I need to allow deity to fill me, and then petition.

A lot of people never differentiate between god near, and talking to nothing.

None of my prayers, or any other bible-based Christians I've ever known have had any of their outlandish prayers answered, i.e. terminally ill relatives making a miraculous recovery, etc.

Hence, my walking away from the bible-centered church, among many, many, many, many other reasons.
