But...

It is because you've seen them so many times on Jerry Springer?

Because I've seen them just as many times on the red carpet.

Is it because you think that they're for showing off?

I've known people for years and not known of their tattoos, and had them not know of a couple of my piercings.

I'll admit straightup that some tats are trashy. There's nothing in the world that can make a pin-up on your thigh look elegant, but a well done, well placed tat or a tastefully-chosen piercing hardly screams trailor trash.

I'd like your honest reasoning as to why you feel the way you do about tats/piercings. For me it's simply like I was born to have them, I wasn't complete. It's like some old pple say, you're what you make of yourself, and I plan to make myself what I want, not what society dictates.

typical, lots of pointed opinion (i dont like them) but not a damn reason to be had because they cant think of anything that hasnt already been disproven 100s of times or more.

Its an interesting question. my mother wrings her hands frequently over the phone about how im an abomination to god and its against talmud. Oh well, if tattooing is hellish than i guess im gonna enjoy being there.

The piercings are lovely gross; I've under no circumstances met besides that may make all of the ones nasty piercings appear wonderful. They go away large holes within the dermis and it is kinda gross; above all whilst you are kissing in that field. I have met a few lovely ladies with tattoos although; or even even though I'm now not a large fan of an excessive amount of ink, a few ladies make it appear most likely effective. I dated a woman that a complete again tattoo of retracted angel wings that seemed so special and sensible that they had been lovely...and one other lady had a tattoo that learn, " A prayer for the wild at middle saved in cages," in sensible lettering throughout her higher again. I will under no circumstances fail to remember both of them.

People say that they don't like piercings and tattoos because everyone has them and they are pointless and impersonal now. I got my piercings for myself, I don't care what others think and my future tattoos will be for myself also. It's just people justifying not liking something. There way of making a judgement okay.

When you are 80 you don't care about how a tattoo looks, you still have the story behind it and the reason to you. Piercings can be removed, although I doubt I'll take mine out unless I have to. This whole "mindless sheeping" theory is a bunch of BS, if someone who doesn't have them sees them they think everything is the same but they aren't, just because it's the same piercing or tattoo doesn't mean the reasoning is the same to everyone that has them.

I must admit that although I don't mind seeing other people with tattoos I would never get one myself.
I have no problem with piercings though, I actually quite like them (have 3 in each ear, belly ring and nipples pierced)

You say that you were born to have them and for me it's just that I was born to not have tattoos. I also change my mind about things a lot and so the one thing that has always stopped me from getting a tat is that I think I would get sick of it and regret having it done.

Although it causes me no grief I that there are some people who do go and get tattoos just for the sake of being able to have one and that may be why a lot of other people object to them and pick on people for having them done.

Tattoos are such a fantastic expression of personality and show off some awesome art work so as long as it makes you happy then keep getting them done-- and maybe even flaunt them off to people who object to tattoos

People go overboard with tattoos & piercing which can make them look trashy, tacky, unsophisticated, dirty, &/or slutty. Some people are just trying to be cool or get attention (which by the way is usually negative attention - not good). Style & taste change all the time, people may regret what they had done later on. Piercings could become infected & leave scars. Also as you get older tattoos stretch or skin sags & then they look distorted. I find a lot of people who get lots of tattoos & piercing or lost - they're depressed or are having troubles with fitting into society, so they purposely try to call attention to themselves. Some people like to try to appear to be "bad & dangerous" because they're really scared on the inside. I just find it all ridiculous & distastefull. There are other ways to express yourself.

I think all the piercings and tattoos are a personal choice. Kind of like choosing your clothes or the car you drive. We are all individuals with our own mind. If we were all the same, how boring would that be?
I am irritated with the folks that think low of a person that is tattooed. Do not make a judgment of me based on the "COLOR" of my skin.

bah, i don't. i've been pierced since i was 11 years old, and i don't mean just my ears. my piercings make me happy, and i don't think they make me a bad person or anything like that at all.
of course, i've been looked down upon for it, usually by my teachers and other figures of authority, but i'm the one in AP and honors classes with a 4.0 GPA, a full-time job and a mother that loves me, so who's the worse person there?
it's pretty shallow to judge someone by how they look. it should be about how they act and what they contribute to society. but i'm not the one making the rules of life, obviously.

Ha ha, I'm getting a pin-up on my forearm this weekend. It won't be elegant, but it will be bad a.ss. Most of the people here respect other's ink. I happen to love tattoos, big and small. I am also contemplating a piercing

I think that people are scared of the unknown somewhat? If that makes sense....I have one tattoo and I'm getting it modified in about 3 months but I chose to have it in a place where I can either hide it or show it - and that was just my personal decision. Mine is my daughter's profile and she is on my lower back on the side...the modification will be that her Chinese name (her real Chinese name...I'm Chinese) will be added to it. For me, it was just my personal "tribute" to her. My own celebration that my husband and I had her. :) It's also placed in the same place that her head was when I was pregnant with her.

Re: ink and piercings...I just feel that it's all up to the individual. If having nothing is what they want, then that's them...if being totally inked is their choice, then that's them. Whatever floats your boat. I feel that it's quite closed minded though when individuals feel that they need to bash people with them. If they don't like them, don't get a mod or don't date/marry someone with mods. Easy as that....

haha..I love the reasons of your gonna age and its gonna look horrible. Like turkey skin looks good either way...at least it'll have prettier colors other than pale raw turkey with liver spots color. Also the abomination reason is great cause according to these same people god is the only true judge, so what the hell are they judging people for..isnt that an abomination too? So is sex before marriage and gossiping and tons of other crap that they dont mind doing. People who have their own minds and who arnt senseless sheep have the ability to think on their own, for themselves...and it scares them.
