Question is not pointless, it is important. Whole milk until they are two, they need to fat to develop. After that if you are worried about weight issues, such as you have a family history of obesity, fat free is best. If your personal prefrence is 2% then that will work. Soy milk is useless unless you are lactose intolerant, the studies are so conflicting on its benefits or non-benefits that its not included as part of the five food groups so that is also a personal prefrence.

Soy is great if she will drink it, it aids in digestion and in quite beneficial to the body (be sure it contains calcium which is the reason why children need milk as well as vitamin D to help her body absorb the calcium). As for traditional milk, you can give her 1% or 2%; whole milk is high in fat and she no longer needs the higher fat content like she did in the first year of milk drinking. All traditional milk contains vitamin D so the body can absorb the calcium, so it's really up to you on how much fat you want the family's milk to have. I buy 1% for our family and have since my son turned 2 last year and his weight is still healthy and consistent according to my pediatrician's chart.

My son used to model for our local malls when he was 1 1/2. I think as long as the parent does not go overboard w/ the modeling (JonBenet type thing) and that your child can still have a social life at her age and be w/ her friends. I personally think it's a good idea to have your child model every once in a while (not day after day) and the money made could go to your daughter's education, which is what I did for my son.

I gave my kids skim after age 1, they get enough from all the other things they eat. Vitamin D is in all milk the % is the amount of fat. If you are uncomfortable going skim, go with 1% but know that this only gives 1% more fat.

Everything I've read says skim beginning at age 2. My husband and I drink soymilk, so when my daughter's (2 1/2yrs) had her daily requirement of skim and she wants more, we give her soy. She likes it, she often asks for it specifically! I recommend Silk Enhanced Soymilk because it has lots of added vitamins and minerals including omega-3!

my daughter drank soy milk for about 16 months that's all she could drink but now she changed to lactose free but some whole milk is OK but the Dr says all kids under i think 5 should Drink whole milk but soy is great its all up to you and the dr

Use your best judgment. The books say introduce your child to a low fat diet after age two. My daughter was thin, so I gave her low fat, high calorie foods. There are not a whole lot of studies on this concept, so do what you feel is right. Give her what you drink.

my daughters peditrician told me to start on 2% at age 2 so i would say 2% but about the soy mild if your family drinks soy then go for it but its your prefrence and if your daughter likes it

My youngest was on soy because it was easier for her to digest. Many people feel that the hormones in cows milk can really affect our daughters, organic cow milk in costly but worth the price for many.

Get her on 1% she doesn't need the extra fat no one does after one year they suggest bringing them down to 1% or fat free milk
