YES! I hate when I do that........I could spend a whole day in the book store and never get tired of it. Bring it home and I never get time for it.

I'm sure that I have gone to a bookstore and not bought a book, but I cannot remember when.

I almost cannot go to Amazon.com without buying a book. In fact, I'm sure I have bought 10 in the last month (it's that unlimited free 2-day shipping).

I don't know that I would apply this standard to all genres, but a book that is the same when you re-read it is not a great book. A truly great book is never the same twice, unless you have not changed or learned anything during the time between readings.

I read Narcissus and Goldmund four times (until I realized I had become smarter and more worldly than both of them).

I don't know why this question is in the Religion and Spirituality section...but I don't buy books anymore unless they are for someone else...I read books way too fast. I max out my library card limit...in fact I have about 15 books lying by me that I am working on...and I am attending an on-line graduate degree program with all kinds of stuff to read. Incidentally...those books are written in a different language (Chinese)...so it's taken me a little longer than usual. I read my Holy Bible...NKJV through cover to cover in a matter of 3 months...and read other similar styled books within that same time period last year. Books...books...give me some books, and I can use it to teach anyone anything valuable. I read on-line books too...I have this KJV Bible on CD-Rom that I look at with Charles Spurgeon's devotional...it's great! OH...I also have this like for sci-fi/fantasy...and I have read some of those Biblical mockery books...which talk about DaVinci Codices and other crazy conspiracies, and James Rollins--pretty bizarre stuff....then I read about the impossible to believe fellow who is a secret agent scuba diver. Can't remember author's name until I see it.

Are you kidding? Not just a few months but like 30 years and I still keep them because one of these days I am really gonna read them. This also includes magazines I decide to get because in the doctors office I love them and when they are sent to my home.....duh, only look at the photos. I keep wondering what's wrong with me because I love the books and have every intention of thoroughly perusing them, so thank you for you question as I feel much better knowing that I am not alone. lol Mmm

Usually when I get it home, I have a sinking feeling that I should have bought the other one, even though it cost ten dollars more. You get what you pay for. I do my book buying around christmas. Canadian Almanac, Guinesses Book of World Records. I have a pretty good collection. Nothing like hard copy.

I usually spend a lot of time looking at several, then narrowing it down to a few, then down to one or two, then,,,,,go back and wonder if I made the right choice. But, once the choice is finally made, I usually start reading it right away.

Barnes and Noble....sigh

You know they purposely find the most comfortable and inviting chairs and couches just to entice you to sit down, and of course you're in a big hurry so you can't. It's at times like these I wish I was a speed reader!! ;)

Blessings

It is wise to consider an optimal outcome prior to every situation. Jesus Loves you. Don't you depend on the Glorious creator of the world.
