It seems like all of my friends around me are in a relationship, except me. Now, I'm a pretty good looking guy. I can cook, sing, play guitar, am a huge athlete (starter for baseball, basketball and football), smart (I have a 3.2), weigh 190 and am 5' 11'', and I'm friends w/ TONS of girls, most of them are in a relationship or don't want to be in one. Any advice for me?

It seems like all of my friends around me are in a relationship, except me. Now, I'm a pretty good looking guy. I can cook, sing, play guitar, am a huge athlete (starter for baseball, basketball and football), smart (I have a 3.2), absolutley hilarious, weigh 190 and am 5' 11'', and I'm friends w/ TONS of girls, most of them are in a relationship or don't want to be in one. Any advice for me?

I just recently ended a relationship with a guy who was in it because all his friends are in relationships and he felt left out.
The best advice I can give you is to be patient. Honestly, it's not worth being in a relationship if you're not crazy about the person you're dating. You're creating a lot of potential for someone to get hurt, and that's just not fair to anyone.
Just wait for a girl to come around who completely grabs your attention. You don't have to do everything your friends are doing.
The single life is good- you get to flirt with whoever you want without worrying about anyone else, you don't have to pay for anyone else when you want to see a movie, and you don't have to waste time on the phone with them half-listening/half wishing you were doing something else.

Are you feeling lonely just becaus you don't have a relationship going on? I'd feel proud of that -- the fact that you aren't following the popular thing in high school is something that's not easy to do. I'm a high school freshman too, and I'm not in a relationship either because it's against my religion to date and stuff like that, which I'm completely fine with. Don't get sucked into it just because others have a relationship and you don't. One of the many things I've learned in high school thus far is that if you follow the crowd, you most likely will NOT get what's best for you. You need to be able to make decisions based on what you need/want, not what others are doing. I'd recommend not even following your best friend, because there are many many differences among people, even among people who are extremely close.

You're pointing out your talents -- it means that you're confident of them (and if you're not, I'd recommend you put all your efforts into what you like the best or what you do best, and develop them throughout your high school years so that when you graduate, you'll have mastered them and are prepared to use them to the fullest potential when you're in a career or college). If you really think these are prominent qualities, then you shouldn't try to overuse them around girls -- if they're really worth your time, if they're really interested in you, they'll seek you out themselves, even if it's hard. If it's a hard thing for them to do, to ask you out, then that it could possibly mean that they're so interested in getting to know you better that they're willing to overcome a little shyness or fear: and THOSE are the girls you should look out for.

I'm not saying, however, that you should just sit around and wait for someone to come to you. Things never happen that way. You need to show that you're interested in a relationship (not only interested b/c your friends are in one, don't go for it if it's not what you REALLY want). In other words, as one of my best/favorite teachers of all-time told me, "Make yourself available." Make sure your words/actions are giving off the message that you are available for a relationship.

Maybe you're friends with tons of girls because that's what you're really interested in. Maybe you don't want to have a romantic relationship, maybe you just want friends who just happen to be girls. Sometimes we attract what we want, but don't realize that that's what we really want/need.

But this really is something you should think through on your own. I'm not saying that to sound mean, or that I don't care how this turns out (if I didn't want to help you out, do you really think I'd write this long of an answer?). It's just that you need to decide some things on your own because ultimately, only you know best what's good for you. I'm just here to point you in the right direction. Ultimately you need to be the one who thinks it through and decide for yourself. Believe me, that'll be extremely valueable once you're out of high school and in college or a career. Good luck. And make sure you trust yourself. I wish you all the best ^_^

just keep going and eventually you'll find someone...in the meantime, enjoy being single! you're only a freshman in high school; you have plenty of time for dating!
