I am not trying to hide the fact that I am a Christian hence "childofgod". Furthermore my “profile” states very clearly “I am a Christian, Wife and Mother”. Yet when I ask specific questions of the bible to better understand the truth so I can spread it to other Christians I get called and Atheist? I want to KNOW the TRUTH so I can TEACH the TRUTH accurately.

Because they attack without thinking, it's an automatic reflex. Now you know what it's like to be on the receiving end.

Sorry that is happening to you sis. I haven't been here long enough to say for sure, but it seems so far like the majority vote on this sight is dominated by those who have no intention of any form of snicerity when responding to a christian.

We can either roll with it, play the game and maybe now and then find something of value, and possibly even contribute a little worthwhile stuff. But if you really want to ask questions about the Bible, and Kingdom of God business, hoping for an authentic and truthful answer, you might want to consider a site where that's what the folks there are all about.

On here...even most (there are a few real deal christians I'm sure) of those claiming christianity don't know any better than to act like a fool, and couldn't answer your questions anyway, and for the ones who aren't, you're sincerity is their target of choice.

Don't feel too bad though, so far, they don't even have the #@%?#*? to even respond to my questions.

I think that the fact you are asking questions is great. You want to know the truth so you can better teach it. Some things in the Bible are difficult to understand. I don't know why people have said that to you. That is the most ridiculous thing ever. If you want to know the truth, then they should give it to you. (That is, unless they themselves don't know.) When you ask a question and get an answer, you better understand your faith and what you read in the Bible. I'm also a Christian and there are many things in the Bible that I don't understand either. Don't let them discourage you and keep asking questions. =)

I just went and looked at a couple of your questions to see what you're talking about. To me, it seems that you are questioning God. While this may well not have been your intent, it could appear that way to some. As I'm sure you're well aware by now, some of the non-Christians take user names that sound Christian. It's really hard to tell. My guess is that some of the Christians felt attacked by your questions. Unfortunately, they reacted instead of truly responding. We all react inappropriately from time to time; I am so glad ours is a God Who cares enough to love us back to Him when we do.

If you don't like the answers you're getting here, you might want to find an online commentary. Use Google or Dogpile and find one. Then you can go look up what scholars have had to say about these topics. Do a little research on the scholars first, so you know who you're listening to, of course. Yes, this does take a little time. I have found, however, that learning to better understand God is well worth any time I put into it. He's infinitely worth it.

It sounds to me as if you are asking questions that bring dought to your fellow christians preconceved notions. Many people would rather not dought their relegion because it is scarry for them. It is hard to be socialy unexceptible, and loss of faith is one of those things in Christianity. Also braking free of ones chains when all you have know all your life is your dark cell, why would you want to remove them? I also think that the Atheist thing is about them trying to difine you as undisirable so as to make you feel ashamed to question them. It is not wise to look into the mind of god. As with the eve and the apple; tasting of the frut of knowlege causes you to be castdown to an unpleasent world. If you wish to spread truth you will end up facing all the other truths people wish to spread. Truth is a lie. For it is a simple word that cannot ever hope to express the actual existence that is. You say you want to spread the truth but you lie. For your truth is not real to me. That is what they fear. A truth that is a lie to them.

I can't tell you why some people do what they do, but I CAN make complete guesses! Here we go.

Well, many Christians (myself included) get in the bad habit of forgetting to speak the Truth IN LOVE, as we are commanded to do. It becomes more of a fight, in which one person must win by having the better answer.

In the same way, we must remember to ASK in love, not skeptically or attackingly (is that even a word? ha!). If we ask harshly, we will get a harsh answer.

Finally, don't be discouraged. Keep asking for the Truth in love, and keep waiting for answers to be given in love.

#1 - Basically, your going to find two types of Christians "on this matter." There are those like you who feel the Bible is a living document. Holy and wonderous, and worthy of study (and, IT IS).

#2 - Then you have those who believe that the Bible (and what it teaches) will be told to you from the (Priest, Preacher, Minister, Deacon, etc.) and God will inspire them to inspire you.

Basically, #2 is a little wary of #1 simply because they don't understand the inquistive nature of those #1 and also because it makes #2 look lazy (which they are) having their religion spoon fed to them.

There's nothing wrong with asking questions to know the truth. In fact, I was at a church which taught bad doctrine. They were getting angry when I asked them questions. Later, they said I had the devil in me. But what happened was that God used that place to teach me how to study the Word of God for myself. If nobody's asking questions in a church then there is definitely something wrong.

The bible does say in all thy ways get an understanding, however the best way to understand the bible is through prayer and watch him lighten the path. To be honest, there's nothing wrong with wanting a better understanding of GOD, and if you're not feeling fully fed, pray that GOD will lead u where u can gain a better understanding of him.

Unfortunately, you're being lumped in with all of the atheist trolls that ask similar qustions. People get tired of answering when they know that they won't be listened to anyway. Atheists can use very Christian-sounding names, and fake id's just like anyone else.

I guess we just get a little shell-shocked after awhile.

Its because the way you asked the question it appears that you are attacking Christianity rather than just asking for understanding. I apologize. Its just annoys me whenever atheist ask those types of questions, because they don't really want to know the answer anyways.
