They are a sick group. They protested after a school shooting here in 2001 that killed 2 and wounded 13. Look them up on the internet for all the info. They are a cult for sure and most of them are related. They should be banned from everywhere. Our town got a restraining order and it kept them to the sidewalk and the city made sure that the fence surrounding the school during the ceremony was filled with posters and signs so they couldn't see in and vica versa. I was so angry. I have heard about them regarding solders and all. There was a guy on here that was part of a group I think in Arizona maybe that helps keep them away from such tragedy. I'm sorry for your loss in your community. Do not let these folks in.

I recall where Jesus asked the people listening, "Do you suppose those of whom the tower of Salome fell were the worst sinners? I tell you, NO! I say that unless you all repent - you shall not in any wise see the Kingdom of God!"

These people at the Westboro Baptist Church are the kind of people Jesus spoke to. They are a people filled with hate and accusation and not even minding their own sins.

If they believe these gay people are in hell - then why are they not mourning with the families of the dead because they will never have another opportunity to correct their wrongs. Why are they not showing love and asking the family if there is anything they can do, bring them food and hope instead of slanderous spitting hate.

Jesus and the Apostles did not go witch-hunting. They did not chase down homosexuals and start cursing them and their families. Jesus and the Apostles preached the word and those who felt convicted came voluntarily - not through coercion or spiteful curses.

I heard there are different degrees of pain and punishment in hell. I don't know that for sure, but if there is, these so called Christians of that particular church will fry like pigs in a pan 10 times hotter than those whom say are in hell unless the repent of their own sins and come to their senses and make amends for the harm they do.

The only thing they have done is drive people further away from God than Satan ever could. The Devil must be proud. These people might escape moral justice - but the will not be so easily excused from the God they insist they speak for. They will give an account for every thing they did.

Let me use my right to free speech to probably offend everyone here. First let me state that I think the members of the Westboro Baptist Church who organize hate based protests at funerals are a bunch of ignorant asshats. Second in 2006 they announced that they were going to organize a protest at the funerals after the Sago Mine disaster in West Virginia ( pretty close to where I live). Quite a few people in West Virginia exercised their free speech and let it be known on web forums and in the media that they were willing to let them come, and visit some of the fine back hollers of West Virginia. However, if they did come, they couldn't guarantee that they would ever return home. This was because West Virginia is such a friendly place, and they most certainly would not want to ever go back after seeing what West Virginia was prepared to offer them. For some reason, even in spite of missing out on the national news coverage at the time, the majority of the members of the Westboro Baptist Church declined to visit the Wild and Wonderful state of West Virginia sending only 20 of their bravest/stupidest members. For their personal safety they were kept away from the funerals, and segregated away from the public memorial service. They were vociferously counter protested at their designated protest zone by a significantly larger crowd who remained peaceable in the presence of law enforcement. It's amazing what the exercise of little free speech can accomplish. In the big picture I think the Westboro Baptist Church has done much more harm to their stated cause than any "benefit" they were trying to achieve. They look every bit as bad as the Neo-Nazis and Klu Klux Klan in the public eye, and damaged their personal reputations on camera before a 24 hour news consuming nation. They have become known as a bunch of ignoramus kooks, and they certainly have not managed to get their message across in a light that would even attract people predisposed to agree with them due to their asinine antics. p.s. they are also a fine example of how not to make friends and influence people. I hope this helps.

What a SAD group, they are missing the opportunity to tell of God's love, they want others to think God hates them. It is sad, I know that God hates homosexuality but He loves and opens His arms to anyone who will come to Him.

Sad that this SO CALLED Baptist church goes around the country spreading a message of hate. I have been a Baptist for many years and have NEVER been in a Baptist Church anything like that. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, let us preach Love!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

These people are wacko nut jobs. They have no clue about the teachings of Jesus. They give Christians a bad name and should not be allowed at the burial service of anyone. I am sorry for the people who had so terrible of a loss in the house fires as well as the loss of our solders. As much as I believe in free speech, it stops when it comes to disturbing the peace and harassment. They should be silenced.

Unfortunately that is what the media Will use a example of Christians. As a Christian and a veteran I abhor their actions and would willing place myself between them and any funeral. I may have a little trouble with the turn the other cheek thing though. Sorry I am still human

If someone would take the risk and beat the crap out of these idiots, their nonssense would be brought to a stop. If done in the right jurisdiction, the fine won't be too high for assault and these a**holes will have learned a valuable lesson in infringing on the rights of others to mourn in private.

They can't really ban them from coming. People have tried. The best thing would be if we formed a group of people to form a human wall between the funerals and them.

How Ironic, that the ones protecting their 2nd Amendment are the victims of their twisted free speech. I think what they are doing is morally wrong, but we can tape their mouth shut. It's what this country stands for. I'm a vet, and if any one of them came to my funeral, I'm sure my brothers would break their leggs (including the females)
