Ok, I was dx ADD, and was put on Concerta, he said that if I didn't like this med we could try Adderall. Well, I don't care for the Concerta. It has a couple of side effects that I don't care for. When I see the doc tomorrow, what should I tell him?? Because I think that Adderall would work better for me. What do you think?

Justin, that's exactly why a doctor is there: to listen to your concerns. If a medication (for anything) is somehow causing side effects that you do not like or is completely disrupting your satifaction with life, tell him and make suggestions for a changing it.

Tell the doctor the truth that the Concerta doesn't work and try the Adderall. My son is on it and it works wonders. Good luck.

My son went through 5 scripts for ADD before I threw a fit and refused to put him through any more side effects. Did you know that they also have no long term side effect information on these meds?
You have a highly functional brain that is just not stimulated enough by the things people think you should focus on... Or that's my son anyway. Maybe it's you too... Maybe you should try mutitasking instead of trying to force your focus.
Ocupational therapists have some great help they can give you.
Just my thoughts... good luck, change meds if these aren't working for you, but keep in mind that they all have crappy side effects.

Tell him just that. You don't care for this and this side effect and you would like to try the Adderall.. Concerta didn't do crap for either one of my children that have ADHD but Adderall helped my youngest and me alot. My older girl Adderall just made her weird. Like she needs any help. Now they are on Ritalin. That has worked for them for awhile. :)

When it comes to communicating with your Dr., or any mental health worker that is involved in your case, it's imperative that you tell him/her exactly what's on your mind and always the truth. We can't help you if you don't tell us everything that's happening with you. Side effects, mood swings, any thing that you notice about yourself that ain't 'normal' needs to be presented to your Doc. so they can make the right decisions for your care. We can't read minds.

Tell the doctor the truth and have him switch the meds... then see an allergist because alot of ADD symptoms can can be traced to food allergies.

tell him everything about your meds and offering a suggestion to improve your condition is not wrong.

tell him you want to deal with the problems and NOT be medicated. You need to see a psychologist and not an MD
