Ya I know they have a pushrod engine now and all of that but i thought it had to be an actual production motor. Not just one that they made just for NASCAR? so if anyone could help me out, it would great.

Toyota is already pulling the same underhanded garbage in NASCAR that they pull with our domestic manufacturers. They are poaching talent from other teams with huge cash incentives. Toyota corporation is subsidizing sponsorship rates so it is cheaper to sponsor their cars.

Toyota's entry into NASCAR is destructive to this sport and America. NASCAR is a 100% American sport. It has now joined the wholesale sell off of America to foreigners. Do you want to live in an America that doesn't build anything? Where even our sports are controlled by foreigners?

I'm sure the American POW slave labor that was forced to work for Toyota would be thrilled that this company is in NASCAR. A company that never apologized or even compensated them for their suffering.

One last thing, NASCAR fans overwhelmingly reject Toyota because we are patriotic. You could even call most fans consumer patriots as well. I don't know any NASCAR fan that would be caught dead driving a Japanese car.

I will not support any driver or team that drives for Toyota. I will cheer every time a Toyota hits the wall(jopefully they dont get hurt) I hope Toyota fails miserably. I want NASCAR

Toyota has been manufaturing cars in the Unied States for a very long time now. The motors you speak of are available to the public in the Tundra. The Monte Carlo somes standard with a V6, The Taurus and Chargers are the same. So that rules out that theory.

As far how they were able to, is that they took the rules that NASCAR provides and build a car that meets those specifications, all manufactures must build their car with in this box. This was no over night deal, they had to build cars and provide them to the NASCAR development team for evaluation, this process has taken two years. They have earned their right to be involved.

As for Toyota subsidizing the teams, Dodge did the same thing when they came back to NASCAR.

Ok here goes. First of all let me start by saying I'm a die hard Chevy man. I have owned many Chevy cars and trucks over the years currently have two Chevy P/U's in my driveway and a Z/28 Camaro, and am getting ready to purchase anther Silverado.
That said let me point out that this is NOT, I REPEAT NOT the first time a "foreign" car manufacturer has raced in NASCAR. Jaguar raced back in the fifties .
Ok, so you say that that wasn't really NASCAR. No, not as you understand it today, but realize that NASCAR has gone through many many changes throughout its history. The introduction of TOYOTA is merely the latest attempt to improve the sport.
Wake up people, this is not as detrimental to the sport that you might think. Why should you be so concerned about TOYOTA throwing their hat into the ring. Look around you the majority of the cars on the roads today have toyota engines and chassis in them. That's right your CHEVY'S and PONTIACS etc... are basically nothing but a wolf wrapped in sheep's clothing, and have been that way for years. Doesn't stop you from driving them. My guess is you probably enjoy the hell out of their performance and reliability. The Japanese cars are not your enemy, they've done nothing but improve the standards of the automobile, forcing American auto manufacturers to step up to the plate to adapt, improve or perish. In any case, it is us the consumer who wins .
That is what the American Free Enterprise system of Capitalism is all about.
Milton Freeman was sent over to Japan after the war to teach them this concept, to better integrate into our free market society.
We shouldn't be upset with them because they've manage to be more successful at it than us.
Markets evolve, to languish in stasis is to perish.

They are also manufacturing the cars in America solely for domestic sales. They are a major player in the world of racing, and we knew the time would come that a foreign auto manufacturer would invest and get into NASCAR. They fulfilled all the criteria that Nascar set forth for them and they are now racing in the big time.

I also take offense to people saying they are buying sponsors with low rates. Team Red Bull is the only sponsor for the 84, and 85 car so thats just not true. Toyota is going to outresearch, and outspend every team on the market. Their teams at this point share information, have the exact same equipment(i believe wood makes his own engines, he still shares his info with the other teams), and are going to win races this year. Nascar fans get use to it, your going to be dealing with Honda soon as well I guarantee.

Nascar is def. trying to attract a new type of crowd. They seem to think that the younger community 18-30 would be more inclined to watch and or go to the races. As far as the production motor I agree with you but i guess they can make exceptions or toyota is creating one and its not avail to the masses yet. I hope this helps

Toyota is the number two auto maker in the world. The big three are so scared that they are going to get beaten on the track that they are stirring up hatred towards a new competitor. What they should be doing is figuring out how to win races. Sit back and watch as Toyota dominates over the next few years. Their drivers all suck, but the cars will be awesome.

Toyotas are eligible to compete in NASCAR because they are assembled in Princeton, Indiana(not where Princeton U is). Toyota coming to NASCAR will help competition. They can invest money and have there own engine program but everyone in Toyota is gambling on the project. The biggest fear is Toyota will come in and dominate like it has other racing series. Don't look for Toyota to have its act together by Daytona look about until after Bristol after the COT race.

I almost hate to wade in on this one BUT here goes: Toyota has become one of the most reliable car manufacturers on the market. How many of you know the number of jobs that many Americans have thanks to the Japanese. I know a lot of folks who own Japanese cars and some of them say that they never again will purchase Ford ,Chevy or Dodge products simply because the quality is no longer available. I am not waving the Toyota flag in as much as the Big 3 manufacturers have allowed it to happen by not keeping in supplying the consumer with quality autos at a reasonable price

MONEY$$$$$$$$$$$$why shouldn't they be allowed to? because they aren't from america?let them come in and blow abunch of money and fail.... plus look at how much its gettin nascar back in the spotlight.... i beleive they had the worst tv ratings in a long time last year and now every body and their mom is going to be watching. japan has a huge population and now that toyota is in think of how many mire people are going to be watching.. the more people watching the more nascar can charge for commercials, in turn more money for nascars fat pocketbooks.

The engines used in NASCAR are not the same engines that are in production models..They used carbeurated engines..production cars used fuel injection...You need to look beyond the pretty colors...
