I have been told that I talk in my sleep, and it is very embarassing. I'm afraid of not having control over what I am saying. Is there any way at all to reduce the risk?

I am a sleep talker and sleep walker, my brother use to joke about putting me on a leash and a muzzle.

One way to reduce this is to be less stressful and identify and deal what's causing all that stress. Do stress and sleep-talk correlate to you? To me, being overwhelmed w/ school, money and unsafe living do coincide with my occasional, random sleep-talk... And if you haven't done this, try to have a consistent sleep routine; 7-8 hours at about the same time every night in a comfy environment, and maybe have warm milk or herbal tea before you sleep. But if none of these work within two weeks or so and still worried, it's best to see a doctor and he/she will check to find out if there's any link to disorders like sleep apnea, or if you are, check to see if taking certain medications affect this parasomnia.

Or you can put duct tape if that won't bother you....j/k!

I think this happens to a lot of people. It may be stress, or you may be over tired. Speak with your doctor, and see if they can recommend any medication you can take or meditation/stress relief that you can do to minimize this. Try taking a warm bath before you go to bed, or try reducing the amount of stress in your life.

You need to find someone to talk to, especially if somethings are bothering you. I talk in my sleep when I feel troubled, I wake myself up with my talking at times. I started talking to my son, he has a more laid back personality and I dont talk near like i used too. What you have is too many troubles and stress. and dont be embarrased, my hubby finds me quite funny.

Go get some help, like see a doctor of some sort that helps those types of things. Are you stressed, paranoid... etc?
