give him a hug and thank him maybe a kiss on the cheek thats bout it or cook him dinner u know invite him over to meet the family hubby kid all that

You can shake their hand, or if other people are around you can hug them (not a long or close hug) and say thank you in a sincere tone. There's not much else you could do. If the situation was not on tv you could call the tv station and have them come and interview you and mention the person's name on tv so others will know of their good deed.

i would thank him about a million times....
it depends on the exact situation and who the guy was but i would most likely stay in touch and maybe even consider dating because things like that can make sparks fly...
