Scientists have done numerous studies proving that homosexuality is genetic. How can people still believe that it is an illness? I guess they just enjoy living in the past.

Are you kidding? Scientists have never found that homosexuality is genetic. that is total BS. Nice try though.. See we are not stupid enough to believe something you say...just cause you say it.
And to answer your question.... It's easy to figure out if it is right or wrong... See God, mother nature, or whoever you believe in has given us one hellofa litmus test on that very subject...

IF it were OK, or natural, as you claim... Then two men, or two women could run off... Have sex... and procreate. They could perpetuate there species.

CAN THEY? UMMMM NOOOOOO! Go figure...
Same reason monkeys can't get elephants pregnant, or wales can't get cows pregnant. CAUSE IT IS WRONG!!!

Now..that Cindy, is what they call FACT. Can you deal with it?
Doubt it!

There is no conclusive proof of a genetic basis to homosexuality or otherwise it would be ground-breaking news. Genetics are a theory until someone finds an absolute link. In any case, it wouldn't be a simple two way switch or otherwise bisexuals wouldn't exist.

Mainstream psychology declassified homosexuality as a mental illness in 1973. Why did it take so long? Prior to that, psychologists had limited access to information regarding homosexuality, and would only get to study it in individuals who had other psychiatric disorders (which weren't associated with homosexuality). In the UK, homosexuality was illegal until 1967, and this meant homosexuals were operating "underground".

This isn't a "yes" or "no" questions/topic. I don't believe they are a "disease" in the same respect that you would think you could catch a cold type of thing. Some obesity IS caused by a medical issue, some is just caused by overeating and laziness. Alcoholism is an addiction, which I believe is both physical and mental but not a disease. Mental Illness is obviously medical. Some research does point in the direction of parasites possibly causing scyzophrinia (sp?).... Mental Illness is a broad topic. Homosexuality... Definately not a disease. Some is definately medical...such as hormonal and chromosonal..., etc... Much is by lifestyle choice too. I woudn't call any of these a disease really... it's not like "chicken pox"........ That's my opinion.

I'm not entirely convinced about the "homosexuality is genetic" part. You do have to remember that the studies only suggest that homosexuality can be influenced by genes.

However, some people are just deluded. It's a saddening truth, but still true.

You could replace homosexuality with any number of other words for 'deviant' behavior (and believe me, there's a fair spectrum to chose from), and the answer would most likely still come back to ignorance, and fear. Either on the part of the individual who is expressing the bigotry (sorry, can't think of a better word), or the person(s) who have told the individual that the aforementioned bigotry is the Absolute Truth.
I'm not trying to take a Moral High Ground stance, here, I honestly believe that what sets me apart from a lot of the 'pretend Christians' here is that I am prepared to be judged, as I have judged.
Having said that, I am man enough to admit my faults - I am ashamed to say that, having referred to the 'act' as Bigotry, I have made myself no better than those I criticise.
I'm sure they will pray for my soul.

I don't believe it's a "mental illness". If it's a free choice you make and what you are doing harms no one, then I'd just as soon leave you alone. Frankly, I'm tired of hearing your chants of "we're queer, we're here, GET USED TO IT!"

(I'm used to it... now shut up!)

I don't want to discuss what goes on in my bedroom...or yours. And I'm certainly not going to go prancing down the street in a "heterosexual rights" parade in your neighborhood. I'd be embarrassed and I'd know it would be seen as a slap in the face of homosexuals forced to watch it on the evening news.

So why on earth would I do it?

Here's a partially related Q for you to ponder. If they discover that pedophiles sexual attraction to young children is an inborn genetic predisposition, would you still criminalize their activities?

We will never "get used to that"!

You want to get the police out of your bedroom. But surely you believe that some bedroom activities must be "policed"... even if they do arise from inborn predispositions.

Where do you draw the line?

No, they enjoy living in a fantasy world. Why do some people think homosexuality is a sin? Same reason. Marine boy above is a fine example of a closet case too.

I believe it's the people who claim homosexuality to be a mental illness are the same people who steal money from the tithe basket during church.

Close minded, mainstream people believe that it's an illness and that there is a cure. Meanwhile, they're quite hypocritical, because if God made us (I'm a lesbian) and he loves ALL of his children, how exactly are we going to be promised to burn in hell?

A song that replays in my mind often is this one:

"Jesus loves the little children
All of the children in the world
Red and yellow
Black and white
They are precious in his sight
Jesus loves the little children in the world."

There is nothing that constitutes proof either way. Anyone who claims otherwise is pushing an agenda.

Personally, I don't see how it could be genetic. Wouldn't the trait be bred out of the species in a single generation? What with no offspring and all.

Homosexuality is not an illness, it is a sin. It is a bondage. It is an abomination. It is the reason why God obliterated Sodom & Gomorrah. But homosexuality is not an unforgiveable sin. There are only three of those.

I have some loved ones who are in this bondage, but no, it is not a mental illness. Homosexuality is usually stemmed from being hurt buy the opposite sex & wanting nothing to do with them, or being molested by the same sex & feeling unclean & unworthy to the opposite sex. It is sad, really.

I have more information I could give, but would rather save it for a private message.

The people who claim homosexuality to be a mental illness just can't seem to get their mind around the fact that people can love members of the same gender. They are in denial of anything that "breaks convention".
