What is the cheapest and best way to re-blue a Beretta 92 FS pistol?

I just bought a Beretta 92 FS pistol and it has some holster wear especially on the rear sights. What is the cheapeast and best way to cover it up / re-blue it?

It really depends on what you are looking for......For the high gloss "pretty" finish, you are limited to a gunsmith, or if you are meticulous you can do a reasonable job with cold bluing.
I would clean/degrease the firearm (brake cleaner works very well...only use on metal!) then apply a quality cold-blue according to the directions (I like Outers brand). Plish with some XXF steel wool and re-oil. This is the cheapest method, and the results may surprize you. If you are unhappy with the results, you are only out 6 bucks for the bluing....you can always have a gunsmith strip and reblue after you've tried it.

If you want the "Tactical" look, I would have the gun mediablasted then cold blue....gives a matte finish that I really like.

Have the gun parkerized (or do it yourself...there are kits/info available on the net)
or
Look into two products called Armacoat and Duracoat. These are fantastic coatings for guns, come in colours from black to grey to olive drab green. More durable than factory blue, and less than 40 bucks for the kit.

The Beretta has a nice factory finish. If you want the same result I would have a professional re-blue the firearm. There are a few other finishes that the armature gunsmith can do. These can be found on the Midway website.

You can buy rebluing kits. It has a couple of solutions like Blue Remover and then the actual Bluing Solution. I think I've even see them at Wally World. They're cheap.

I've done it before on an old shotgun. It takes practice to be good at it and make it look perfect. You can just take the blue off and tryover if you really screw up. You can also take them to gun shops and I think they do it.

if you want a good blue finish you need to take it to a gunsmith the cold blue kit do all right but it will not take long if you pack it to put it right back to the shape its in spend a little extra and go for the pro blue job

Why don't you sand blast it then acid etch the metal with 50:50 10% oxilic:nitric acid, then keep it well oiled. Gives the metal a mean look...

go to a place with a nice gun section buy a beechwood casey blue pen. draw on the area and be done. If you can't find it do an online search.

my dad had a nice bb gun carbine that was rusting over he went to wal mart and bought some rust remover and bluer for guns it will say exactly how to use it on the box, make sure it is specifically for guns
