for centuries my ancestors and biblical stories tells of in-family marriages. is it wrong because of society making it seem wrong? I guess society sets the rules, and what seems to be moral.. but what if two siblings are in love? they can always use protection.. so dont' worry about defects, but other than that they are just two opposite sexes in love.

It was legal for the first 10 generations (at least) of Mankind, according to the Bible. What's interesting to note however, is that it takes exactly 10 generations for a new biological defect to set in a species. The age limit dropped from an average of about 900 years with the first 10 generations to around 720 years with the end of the 2nd 10 generations. A nice decline. Then at the 30th generation the average lifespan was only around 130 years. Quite a sharp decline!

Just TOO many defects were setting IN!

Many times when one marries blood relatives, the children are deformed.

Also, God discourages incest (It is a form of fornication/ adultery). I am not so sure about 1/2 sisters/ brothers or kissing cousins. But there will be a larger % of deformities. In nations where people marry in the family there are more birth deformities.

When bad conscequences are a result of an action, one should realize it is a sin of some sort. I sure wouldn't want to marry my blood brother. I don't feel comfortable with that at all. But incest isn't in my family tree, or isn't an iniquity passed onto the 3rd or 4th generations of those who hate God.

It was a social taboo-for the most part, still is, now science has shown that the DNA or genetic material will be defective. A couple could try to use some form of bc but accidents can still happen. I think it is illegal but I'm not sure. Never was interested so I've never botrhered to research if it was legal or not.

Some people think it's too taboo, some don't. Personally, I don't feel passionately enough about the subject to suggest that we legislate or not legislate. I leave it up to people that care.

My husband doesn't like the idea because it would degrade the genetic code (like you said, defects). I agree... that is a danger. And all the "broken condem... oops, we're having a baby" stories should attest to the sporadic ineffectiveness of prophylactics.

as much as i wouldn't attempt to marry my brother, oddly enough i can agree with you. it's just that society has changed over the years and what was acceptable then, isn't now. marrying your sister is against the law in this country would be the main reason. and it's most likely due to the birth defect thing.

Medically, because of genetic diseases (diseases passed through the genes). Condoms do not protect children from inheriting genetic diseases from their parents (and indeed, are far from completely effective with sexually transmitted diseases).
If, for example, cystic fibrosis (a genetically inherited disease) is prevalent in the Jones family, and Jill and Joe Jones decide to marry, and they both have the allele (part of a gene that codes for a trait-- sorry for all this), for cystic fibrosis, then at least one of their children will most likely have cystic fibrosis.

I hope I helped.

Because inbreeding=ugliness and mutation.Have you ever seen that movie Evil breed? They show how a person can look like after years on in-breeding.It in NOT a site for sore eyes.It is disgusting, and un-natural.See God knows this. That is why he commands us in the Bible,Qur'an,and Turah not to in-breed,because He knows it will make us ugly and sick in the mind.We will have horrible mental health problems.See,God wants us all to be beautiful.

God did set a cut-off point where He didn't allow it anymore.

the reason is scientific: once there are more mutations, incest becomes a much more dangerous thing. the genetic diversity in the human race is the reason for the halt in the incest process. If it had continued, we might all be a little whacky. still, it was necessary at one point in order to populate the planet.

its not completely wrong, but 99% discouraged.
Confusion of FACE is an oldtestament term for one example of why incest is wrong.
degenerating Disease is also wrong and is often the adverse reaction to giving birth, probably by design to deter the actual practice.

its funny Just today I had a revelation about the LAND OF NOD being in Ethiopia. but i have no way of proving that. ethiopia was on the other side of one of the rivers that surrounded the garden of eden, but even the existence of the garden of eden being on this planet is debateable.

People marry for love AND to have kids.
Ask any woman if she would give up a future family for kids, and you'll be kicked in the balls.

Woman WANT kids.

Incest has proven that marrying blood-relatives is a severe no-no.
