The questions that all politicians are avoiding about NO is: is it worth rebuilding? Who will it help to spend all the money (which the President has reallocated to the situation in Iraq) and all the man hours to help who? A bunch of poor and very poor who probably do not vote and cannot afford to raise their voice.

As Sam Kennison once said, "We wouldn't have world hunger if you people didn't live in the desert. We've got deserts in America, we just don't live in them."
What you have in New Orlean's is a situation where people built houses below sea level. They knew that sooner or later a major storm would come through, but they built them anyway. Would you rebuild an area knowing that at some future date it would be destroyed again and need to be rebuilt again?

why should the government fix any of it now,It is a well known fact that new orleans is going to FLOOD,not maybe or possibly but a definite going to FLOOD! If you choose to live there then you really shouldnt expect the rest of the country to pay to rebuild a place that is going to FLOOD AGAIN. If you choose to live there after you have now seen what can happen then that is your choice but I dont think the government should be responsible to to take care of idiots that choose to live in a FLOOD zone.
We do not owe you or anybody else a living,a free house or anything for that matter.
If you wish to rebuild and live there go ahead ,but dont expect the rest of us to come to rescue when it happens again, and it will happen again.

Why is it the government's responsibility to fix everything? When I needed a new roof, I did not go crying to the government to pay for it. I took personal responsibility and got it done myself. Why cann't those who live in the Katrina areas fix their own property? I understand that thier was catastrphic losses due to a huricane, but that does not matter pre - Katrina. People need to take more personal responsibility for themselves and stop reliing on the government to fix everything for them.

before Katrina : Why should the government fix it? Why don't the people who live there fix it?? after Katrina : The Government can help but it is still up to the people who live there to take it to the next level.

Good question! I want to know why the Governor has asked for what is equivalent to $514,000 per person or over a million per house. I saw those houses & they were not million dollar houses.
We the taxpayers have paid enough, it does not matter if they mismanaged the money - not our problem. if you waste your paycheck your boss will not pay you again.

Yeah there is no point in fixing it. Why would they waste millions of dollars, time, effort, and labor on rebuilding when there is a possibility of something like that happening again?

There are areas that are neglected by the government because the politicians concentrate on helping people where they get most of their votes.

If you build a sand castle and the tide lifts it away. Would you build a sand castle to live in in the same place? Let us build in a non flooding plane of land. Then let N.O. come back.

It's not the governments responsibility to give it's citizens handouts. Maybe they shouldn't have wrecked their neighborhoods in the first place.
