No, that is God's will. He only tested Abraham to see how far he willing to obey him. At the last moment, the angel called out and told him to not to harm his only son, thus Abraham use a ram that was caught in a bush for the substitute sacrifice.
The story is an example of God's love for all of mankind where he did not withhold his Son,Jesus Christ to die on the cross for the sins of the world. Jesus was the only one who was without sin, blameless and holy enough to remove sins through his blood.
