I have started to date a wonderfull woman. We both work, but she is a doctor and make a lot more than me. I've made it very clear to her that once I've cleared all my debt from a business I owned that went under, I will do just fine with the automotive company that I work for now. at dinner yesterday, she said that she wanted to start buying me some new clothes and update my style of dressing. She said, "I hope you don't have a problem with being a 'kept man' ". I explained thatI could never be 'metro' and I won't change who I am. What do you think about the 'kept man' comment?

A boy-toy. It usually means you are a house husband.

She begins buying you things until you allow her to buy you completely. Then you stay at home, watch TV and get as much energy as you can muster to clean the chimney every time she wants it.

Frankly it's the most demeaning type of relationship no matter what the gender. One or both people neither have respect for the other and is resentful.

Only lazy people raise a hand for it.

But the choice is yours - ** shrug **.

(and i have my own income to boot and i dont have to work for it. and has nothing to do with chicks)

And dress?? I still have some clothes.. and i could use more that would put you to shame in any circumstances... ..

Recommendation? step aside commoner.. let some one that knows how to handle this handle this..

(Oh fer yer GF.. My email is darchange@Phreaker.net.. I'm free clear.. have all my teeth.. not even close to fat.. hair for days and well.. easily bon jovie pretty in his good days.. Move over rover.. yiou dont want her..? she and I can talk.. sounds like a deal to me.

If you're asking what a kept man is. It's a man that gets everything from his female partner. Just as a woman would have a sugar daddy. It wasn't nice for her to say that but, I'm guessing it was a joke. Still it looks like she wants to change you to fit her standards. Though it could turn into something other than a joke very soon. If you are trying to get out of debt and she is doing well. Is it safe to say you don't have much throw away money? She may have friends that are living a more spend freely life. I hope that she just wants to give you something she knows you're unable to give yourself at the moment. I hope she's not trying to cover up the fact that you're not as wealthy as she is. I really don't know what to make of that comment. It was hopefully just a joke gone wrong.

A kept man is a man who has a lady taking care of him.
Paying your way, dressing you etc. That is not too nice of her to say that to you. It appears that she feels because she makes more money, she can dictate the clothes you wear and probably everything else.
This is what a man who makes more money and is not a nice person does to a woman I suppose.
Why not give you access to her account and you buy your own clothes if you feel you want to get some clothes:otherwise, do not allow yourself to be insulted!
Her making more money or you making more money is not the issue: personality and character are the two main things that are foul here.
Time to defunk that skunk!

Men are kept by both sexes. Usually they have there expenses paid and are given some pocket money. In "Breakfast At Tiffany's" George Peppard is the "kept man" of Patricia Neal. They are not allowed friend, other than those of the person who is keeping them, all their decisions are made for them, they are put on display whever possible or convenient. Their sexual favours are for the person who is keeping them or it may be that they're "loaned" out to special friends. Not infrequently, they are not so much loaned out as rented out-the money going to the person who is keeping them. Whatever their keeper wants of them, they will do or be tossed out while the keeper keeps their clothes, their expensive trinkets and their charge accounts. The kept man cannot care whatt he person keeping them looks like, or whether they even have any affection for them. They are there for their looks, their sexual abilities and their companionship. Some of these man are also referred to as "Stalking Horses" which means they accompany much older woman to a social function.Naturally they are handsome, have impeccable manners and good conversation. To be a kept man one must abandon all standards of love, affection or caring to be replaced by their very good looks and their ability to perform sexually.

You might enjoy it at first - being pampered and looked after but then that could all change.
She may begin to think you owe her something or that after everything she has done for you etc etc
I would let her know that you never plan on being a kept man - as you are old enough to support yourself.

the phrase "kept" used to refer to a "kept woman of the 1950's" a woman kept barefoot and pregnant. If you want an honest opinion, well here it is: she likes you (for whatever reason, maybe you look good, maybe you're nice, maybe she's horney, etc.), but what she wants to do is "buy" you because she feels she is superior to you. I suggest you find someone else. She wants to change you, she wants you at her beck and call. Since she wants to buy you clothes that means she wants to parade you around and treat you like a jigolo. If you are looking for a sweet, wonderful and a nice woman to have your children, look elsewhere.

"Kept Man" is most likely a shotened usage of "well kept man." This is jsut someone who shaves, cuts his finger and toe nails, washes his feet, keeps his hands clean, keeps a clean cut haircut (doesnt have to be real short, just well trimmed), dont have to be metro, just pay attention to the clothes you put on when you are out in public. I mean, if you are going to dinner with your lady, figure out what kind of place you are going, if it is nice, its better to be over dressed than to look like a bim in there, and for her to notice a guy that looks just so handsome!!! SO, its not metro, just keep yourself clean, make sure all of your clothes are all wrinkled, and basically look in the mirror. Hey , I am single by the way so what the heck do I know!
