I worked for a chain smoker with filthy dirty finger nails, wrinkled shirts and wretched breathe.....he would dictate letters and pace around the room...then come breathe over your shoulder to check his place in the dictation....it was creepy and dirty.....YUCK! He had no sense of social space and was always way to close to everyone he talked to.

Oh man, I've had a LOT of bad jobs!! None of them by themselves were as bad as some of the ones mentioned, but here are my top worst ones:
--5 years as a waitress, ages 13-17; I was on my feet too much and had varicose veins by age 16, and because I looked much older than my age I was asked out constantly [among other things...] by much older men
---one summer on college break I worked as a hotel maid; the boss was a real jerk and was on us constantly; for instance, you were allowed a 15 minute break every afternoon, BUT if you actually took it, then you got assigned another room the next day
--after college I was a social worker and took kids out of their homes and put them in foster care
--after 2 yrs as a social worker I worked in the office part of a scientific testing lab where customers constantly called up complaining because the test results were late; I worked so hard but so little of how my day went depended on me
--after that I worked in a non-profit organization where the boss was the wife of a former senator and was SO corrupt and kept signing my name to things; plus, the organization worked with persons with head injury so we had a lot of them around and they'd have major screaming breakdowns when the copier wouldn't work, etc.
--oh, and somewhere in there I worked as an office temp, and there was this one assignment where we stuffed envelopes; there were hundreds of us sitting at long tables, and when the pile of stuff to stuff got too low the supervisors would heave more boxes on the table and no kidding I would go home with bruises on both arms from being hit with the boxes; then at the end of the day we'd all line up and the supervisors would go down the line telling which of us should come back the next day and which of us should not; talk about dehumanizing!!
--woo hoo, and at one of my temp jobs I was given some things to file alphabetically, and after I finished the boss came up and said, "Let's just check a few." And started CHECKING MY FILING.

Working in the Bankruptcy Department of a car finance company. I had to quit when they wanted me to repossess a car from a lady who had cancer. I felt too bad about that to continue. This lady was genuinely sick, not playing the system. I'm sorry, that was just terrible!

i use to have a boss who had a problem with me needing to go to the bathroom. i would get up from my cubicle & head to the bathroom, she would say "where do you think your going? the phones are ringing?". I told her I need to piss & she said "NO, pick up the phone first". She was just a low class boss with a bad attitude. I hated that job to begin with & made a mistake accepting it without thinking. The next day, i reported her to Human Resources, then i gave her my resignation.

I worked 4 months once for a stockbroker who was mentally unbalanced and apparently wasn't on any kind of medication. He scared me with his behavior a few times.
